I is important to live today as though there is no more because there may not be-and to choose a job you like to be happy-Last Friday tragedy struck my family-My son is a professional fisherman in Southern Oregon.-crab season has just started and despite the big waves all the boats went out-His boat was hit by a huge wave and sunk-They have found none of the 4 onboard-The coastgaurd has called off the search now-We were all together at Thanksgiving and I met his buddies from that boat and now they are all dead-I am headed down to that town now and will meet with his girfriend and baby and the rest of the family members-they are holding a memorial service everyone in town will be there-the population is only 1000 -I have to meet with the coast gaurd and sheriff-I took a lot of pictures of everyone on Thanksgiving and they need them for id if and when they wash ashore-Iloved my son alot and at least he died doing what he wanted to do-he died in the ocean which he loved-and he was supporting his child-I could not ask for more from any son-I will miss him alot-

Hey man I truly feel for you, tragedy has struck me as well recently (17 year old friend killed, 17 year old friend in coma, and 17 year old friend in Critical Condition, hit by drunk driver) but try to act like he would have wanted you to and enjoy my hug

Dear Rob, I just read your post and my gut clenched ,and tears came to my eyes, and I let myself feel the sorrow just a little, and I almost couldn't take it. I feel truly afraid of having to face a loss like that. I do believe that is my biggest fear in life, of losing my loved ones, and not being strong enough emotionally to live with it. I sincerely hope you are hanging in there, and that your friends and family are there, to help you make it through this time of crisis. All my love to you, and to everyone who has suffered loss of a loved one.

Thanks Everyone-I just got home-Xmas day-There was a lot of people at the service and they held a parade in town-I spoke at the service and it was very tough to do-They have not recovered any of the bodies-I went to the the bridge' overlooking the bay they were in and threw roses from the bridge-I am now very close to my new (3wks old) grandaughter and her mother-Life has so many twists and turns-Be ready-I have to learn to adapt without him-very hard to do-and get closer to his new daughter-We all had a great Thanksgiving -then this-

It's a very noble statement - "Live Today Like It's Your Last", I like it but it is also very hard to convince ourself and stand up to it every single day. In general we are humans at times we can be so miserable and can't believe what we are doing sometime. Keep working on - "Live Today Like It's Your Last".

Thany You-I now have a beautiful new grandughter he left behind to help keep his memory alive-Life is just so strange-you just never know what will happen tommorro-Its real strange that him and I had lost contact of each other for years-then we re-united this year and we did something my dad and I never did-We told each other we loved each other-and that now means alot to me-we were only back together for a short time but it was real good-and now I am a grandad to a 1 month old girl-If you love someone-better tell them now-while they are here-Thanks everyone for your nice comments-the ocean has now given up 2 of the 4 but not my son-yet-

I am very sad to hear your son was lost at sea. May he be with God and have peace and a good place for his soul. Death is a very hard thing to face. Be brave. Have faith. Go with God, and forgive the ocean for destroying what you loved most.

Thanks Trekker-For the 1st week I blamed everyone and everything I could think of-I was mad at the owner of the boat for letting them go out in stormy surf and huge waves -Then I was mad at the coast gaurd for calling off the search too soon-Then I was mad at the ocean for taking him too soon-but now it has been two weeks today that it happened I am sad but no longer mad at anyone or anything-The fishermen all know what they are doing and the risk they run when they go out in the winter for the crabs-They can say no at any time-The coast gaurd had 3 boats and two helos in the air and only quit when the waves were over 20ft. and the winds were fierce and would have possibly caused another accident-And the ocean did nothing but be itself-unpredictable-I used to surf when I was young and I was always aware of the chance I took out there-My son did the same-I can't find any blame for this at all-It is just a very dangerous job-I miss him alot and think of him every minute and wonder why God wanted him so soon and right after he just had his first child; but there is no answer to that-I will see him on that side when it's my time-thanks for the nice post-

Rob bless your family, my heartfelt sympathy to you. I live here on the coast and there are trecherous seas of this sw coast that have caused many deaths since the sailing ships ploughed these waters. As before, should you decide to visit this peninsula you have a standing invite to camp free on my oysterville property.

    My website is
http://www.honorseed.com and there are pics of this area there. My work was in teh bay to the east, and it got stormy on the water early morn about 2 am, dangerous enough.
Coast Guard does a great job here saving boaters.!!! peace bro, love ya.
