    Has anyone read this book? I just got it for my birthday a month ago, and haven't had the time to read much of it. What is it like?

    Meh. It's philosophy more than fiction. The characters are all one-dimensional representations of philosophies so they're not very well-developed or believable. If you agree with her politically and philosophically then you'll like it. If you've never read her before, I'd suggest starting with something shorter like We the Living or Anthem or, at the very least, read The Fountainhead first.

    It's an allegory, if you will.

    yes, if you are going to read her, read something alongside it. Some parts are a struggle

    I just finished Anthem, I thought that was a good read, and not too hard to follow.
