I just started my dreads and before that I used baking soda and vinegar to wash my hair. I have heard a lot about the dr bronner's products on various sites and I finally tracked some down the other day.

    Questions..

Is the bar soap ok to use on your hair?
I can only find the almond, lavender or teatree .. are they ok for dreads?
Or is it fine to just continue with the baking soda and vinegar?
Also is $6.50 an ok price for dr bronner's, seemed a lot for a bar of soap?

It's only been 2 weeks, but my hair is knotting up nicely.. not dreads yet.. but semi dreads are forming and def knotty n messy and on the way. I just wanna care for them properly.

Dr. Bronners is amazing. Lavender is what I use and I love it! I would get the 32oz(944ML) instead because it lasts longer than a bar of soap. I dillute it with 1/2 water because if i use it straight it tends to dry my scalp up in the colder season. Using straight in the summer doesn't bother my scalp though. Plus, dilluting it gives you double the amount of soap. The 32oz bottles cost about $10 I believe. I wouldn't see why the bar soap would hurt your dreads. As for the the baking soda and vinegar, I dunno because I would never put vinegar in my hair because I hate the smell.

I got my Bar soap of Dr. Bronner's off of Ebay...lol^^. it was REAL cheap and barely any shipping. i use the tea tree bar, and it's amazing on mine^^. i've been using it for a while now, and it doesn't look as if i've used any, so yeah, seems to last well for me. but yeah, ebay was what i did, if that's any help^^

Yeah, I like the tea tree best myself. I find it soothing to my scalp, plus it repells bugs, and I like the smell. I just bought a bar the other day, because I needed some and the only store I could get to was out of liquid. They do essentially the same thing, theres' no big difference except that liquid gets INTO the dreads better. Something that's a concern for me since my dreads are pretty dense at 5 years. But you probably wouldn't have a problem with the bar, since yours are so young.

Buying online is a good idea. If you look around I bet you can find a really good deal.

Good luck, and post some pics when you get a chance! :D

I'm in the process of making my dreads. I started today (YAY!!!). Anyway, I got my mom to buy me a bottle of Dr. Bronner's lavender for Christmas. I'm going to use it as body and dread soap. I'm so excited! (I've got 4 dreads made so far. LOL)

Dr. Bronners was a bit too harsh on my scalp, it made mine all dry and stuff. but it really cleans your dreads... CLEAN, really really like, clean.
