Yesterday my breast started leaking, to the point where I had wet spots on my shirt. Now, I knew that sometimes your breasts could leak before birth, but I didn't realize so soon. It was a bit of a shock. I'm only 26 weeks, is this normal? Also, it is just my left breast leaking, does that mean I could have issues with my other breast? I had to go get breast pads for my bra, but will I leak constantly and have to wear them all the time now, or will it just be an occasional thing?
It should just be occasional, but keep breast pads on hand, just in case. And just because one breast leaks, doesn't mean there is a problem with the other! Rejoice, momma! Your breasts work perfectly!
One of my breasts LEAKED while the other would just occasionally squirt here and there. I wore breast pads from about....28 weeks, maybe? Both of my breasts had enough milk, the one that didn't leak too much pre-baby was actually the one that filled up the quickest after a feeding, it had a TON of milk. Once, my boyfriend and I were sitting on the bed talking and he had his back against my chest leaning back on me and my breasts leaked all over the back of his shirt....it was pretty embarrasing....and that was like the second day I had milk start coming in pre-babe. He just laughed it off and hugged me. I got the reuseable breastpads from lansinoh or something. They work....but when you start having a lot of milk at a time, they don't really do much....they're just cloth, no plastic on one side. So, keep disposable around just in case....if you plan to use the cloth ones.
