The newest verison out has a hardcore trojan virus that most anti virus software does not pick up on. This virus will rape your pc.

as will kazaa and a few other p2p software

no-one in their right mind would use limewire and a good thing to do that will enable you to be sure of the legitimacy of a program is to type into google this exact phrase
    +limewire +virus
you will find sites like this
    http://www.bullguard.com/forum/10/Limewire-virus-hides-a-complet_24376.html
also after that look in the folder where you install any p2p programs to and find out the name of the executable
then in google type its name like this
    limewire.com
then click on companies like neuber that have reviewed its safety
also on a win xp machine press "ctrl alt delete" at the same time
then click the processes tab and run through that list of executables on google to see
if any you dont recognise are viruses on a review site
try this link this is what I mean NOTE THIS IS FOR A FILE CALLED
    SCVHOST.EXE NOT SVCHOST.EXE
check your processes and make sure its not there. similarly check all your host processes on neuber.com
    http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/scvhost.exe.html

I use limeware pro and have no issues, you just need to watch the sort of file format for what it is your downloading, most songs have an average length in mb so common sense says if alot of the same files are the same size and format its bs.

Ive used linmepro for over 2 years and never update it and from time to time somthing will try to get past things but its always caught, I will keep using it.

But pretty much all the software files on limeware are the same size and will put the fucking to you.

people people, why on earth are you using limewirE? i lost everything on my pc due to that fuck up of a program. download yourselves frostwire AS WELL as bit torrent. frostwire is an ad-free virus-less p2p file sharing program with the same user interface as limewire so you'll know how it works straight away and also, and this is the main reason - it's takes up less than 1/4 of the space that limewire does.

    limewire is dead.

I read this thread a coupe days ago, and decided that I was a little sketchy about continuing to use limewire. So, I was searching for alternatives, and ran across mp3Rocket. I decided to try it out for one year, as the price seemed reasonable and they promised so much. Plus, it would be legal to download files. What happened? It's a limewire clone. Does anyone know anything about this service? Have I made an error? Share with me any information you have about bit torrent, as I've heard of it, but never ever tried it.

Bit Torrent is a P2P client/server which allows upload/download of files - there are illegal files you can download but you would be wise to consider that it is illegal and the fines are heavy if you are caught, plus the people who are behind the detection of such piracy have a lot of power to get your name in the paper and on the news

AS WITH ALL P2P software you should use it for legal dl/Ul ing - its good for that - its your conscience and your bank balance so think carefully about what you do out there

Really the point is that all these P2P technologies are inherently unsafe
and therefore to operate them responsibly you need to make better security arrangements for your PC or network.

All of these technologies can contain malware but some are built with the malware in them (Limewire - Bearshare - Kazaa) etc
Be careful which torrent client you use and where you get it. I suggest one called "ABC" (another bit torrent client)

Thanx a lot for the info. Too late for the laptop I used limewire on a few years back. That is probably what killed it. It was an ancient thing and just barely runnng but it was running. I put Opera on it and Limewire. A month later it died. It was acting up afterwards. I thought it was another program or something. Makes sense now. I got mad at someone else and thought they sent me the bug in a game disk they sent me. Guess I gotta apologize now and eat crow. Well, I always was into wild foods. I am using frostwire at present. May check out the others you all have suggested.

    Peace, Cricketlind
