One thing being away from your family for a year does is make you appreciate it. And celebrating Xmas with a bunch of German relatives of your host family, who you dont know, just isnt fun, not gonna lie. You sit there and get to answer the same 3 questions over and over to each family member: 1.) Where do you live in the US? 2.) How do you like Germany? 3.) Where did you learn German so good? Dont get me wrong, theyre all nice, but...Id so rahter be in the easy comfort of home...but alas, they are all an ocean away from me...until this July!!!! wow thats a long time! poopieshoes. Cheers, Dylan
Hope you get over tha homesickness and can talk to your fam sometime. Like I told ya before, home is where I hang my denim jacket.. yeah, it's kinda like that.
Just imagine the beautiful celebration in July though!! It will be well worth the wait. Keep your head up, you've already come so far since first arriving there.. learning the language, making new friends.. Merry Christmas! How do you say Merry Christmas in German?
Merry Christmas Dylan! I hope you are able to get to talk to your family soon that would help. Just think when you get home in July you will no longer be home sick and you will have alot to tell people about living over there. Keep your chin up kiddo I know sometimes it can be tough, it was for the exchange student that lived with my friend a few years ago.
Just think of how much more you appreciate now that you miss them... distance makes the heart grow fonder, they say.
^sorry YoungHippieDream, you're wrong, its: Frohe Weihnacht! Thanks guys! Yeah, I got to talk to my family very briefly on Christmas Eve, which sorta helped, but it was still weird sitting through all the meals with all these relatives of my host family who I dont know. But theyre all very nice. I just want to slap my host father sometimes, he always criticizes me, and it seems to be always when Im feeling comfortable and at peace. He told me a month ago that I had to "make more small talk" and talk more during meals and in general with them, and since then, its made almost every moment with him uncomfortbale, cuz then im thinking "shiiiiiiit what shoudl I say?" but I felt like this past couple days with my hsot family and their relatives went well, and that I talked alot and all...and then as we were leaving, to crush that thought, my host fahter says "Dylan if we dont ask you something, then you never say anything!" oh well. Im tryin'. I think im gonna shit in his slippers the next time he says that tho. Cheers and Love, Dylan
Hahahaha........GOD...Its so good to hear from you.......we really miss you here....its not wuite the same on the foums without your humor !!!
