Now im gonna say right now i love trey and his music, but he belongs with jon, page and cactus. at one point, trey was the one and only person i ever looked up to but now his ego has turned me away. Anyone agree with me here?

i completely agreed with you until i saw the last night of coventry. when i saw trey cry my heart broke and i felt TERRIBLE for thinking that he was an asshole with a giant ego. he and the rest of the guys are just doing what they feel is right. happiness comes through pain and sacrifice and can be a huge risk. they stepped off the ledge and took this risk and i believe that they will come to regret it. but honestly phish has gone downhill since the hiatus. i wont get into that. i doubt that any of their individual work will be successful, even treys. i do enjoy his solo stuff though. check out the issue of guitar world with him on it. i completely understand everything now and you will too...in time. but really trey is a great guy with a lot of heart. he may come off as an asshole but page and fish agreed with him about the break up. at least he had the balls to come out and say what he was feeling. anywho...good luck with your journey to gamehenge.

    peace and love<3

If you've read any of my posts regarding Phish, you'll now where I stand. I've met Trey on more than a few occasions and it was really sad for me to watch his ego explode. Back from 93 - 95 when I saw the majority of the shows that I've seen, it was more about the band. During that same time period they really became big, the rest of the guys (whom I've also met on a number of occasions) remained down to earth, trey didn't and the music started to suffer because of it. After 97' I only went to a handful of shows because I had seen so much of them where they were a 'band' then it just started to become Trey and his back up band. IMHO 94' was far and away the best year for Phish - the slide into what has happened this year really started then.
