I would really like to consider coming to New Zealand. However, everything I read seems to mention volcanoes and boiling mud pools (oh my). I'm from the US, so I don't encounter many volcanoes. Are the "natural hazards" in New Zealand as scary as they sound? Thanks!
well, yes we have active volcanoes and geysers and such. However, they are not that bad at all. People live quite happily along side them - skiing on Ruapaehu, which is an active volcano and swimming in thermal hot poolsn for instance It's nothing to be scared of, and as long as you can get used to the sulfury, eggy smell (which, thankfully, you will only really encounter in Rotorua) you should be fine. Also, most places don't actually have any sort of stuff like that. It's not as common as it might sound, you probably just hear about it as people push the 'exciting, unique' tourism angle
Yeah, trust us, New Zealand isn't scary at all! Although sometimes the people... well, just make sure you don't come when there's rugby on that the All Blacks might lose. Seriously, though, it's very easy to avoid the geothermal/volcanic areas if you wish, although that really wouldn't be necessary. Some of the thermal areas are very popular tourist destinations, especially around Taupo and Rotorua.
NZ is FULL of natraul hazards, I would advise you not to come here 1. The retarded, evil twatty presence of the one and only John Banks 2. You run the risk of getting your grave smashed over if one of the locals decides he doesnt approve of your choice of personal belief 3. You might get bowled over by a massive JAFA 4. Some areas such as Otago could potentially freeze your nuts off or possibly give you permenant nipple freeze (ah, get over it) 5.Richard Prebble 6. It is more than likely you will have to pass through areas of extreme tacky skankeyness - Palmy, Wangaz, Foxton, Masterton etc Perhaps in order to avoid these and other such unwanted experiences, you could look at maybe Norfolk Island???
Lol, my advice is to close your eyes and curl up into a ball when confronted with a New Zealand politician.
You like scaring other countries away don't you G? lol. Nah NZ's alright, My family took a chance to move here and it's the best thing we ever did. NZ in places is like Yellowstone National park and then other places like Missouri
