I just wanted to get your attention. Did it work?

Being only 20, I feel I know alot more about the true hippy than most.
We know what we have seen on TV, we know what we've read, we think we probably know alot more than is really true.

My parents were true to form hippies. They lived off the land, had solar electricity and there was no one living within miles a where they
    made their home.

They gave up that life when I was 6 thinking that it would be better for me. Well I would have loved to have lived their life with them that way. They still hold alot of the hippy values to heart.

    Tell me your hippy stories.

I have gone through alot of these threads and most of you are blowing smoke out your ass as to what a hippy is, not to say you don't have the right to say what you think or want, I just mean I, we have alot to learn.

So now I guess it's time for you to come in and bash me. ok, come on, my arms are out with two peace signs on the end.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The things most people know about Hippies, they either only watched on the TV News, or on some documentery on MTV or VH1. "Hippies are a bunch of malcontents, who only wat something to protest, so they can smoke thier dope!"

Bullshit. I'm glad I found this site. Lots of the younger people are figuring out what we did...

    Agreed,
Hollywood is no where to get factual info for the most part. Ask the people who lived it.

Charmain, I'm guessing you call yourself a hippie, no?
Why is it that most hippies say they are totally against labels, yet all the ones I know call themselves hippies?

what you guys say it true, people actually call themselves hippies, simply because they smoke pot and listen to Zeppelin, like what the hell? and then theres people, like myself, who only hope to live like charmain's parents eventully, conserving everything you can to help save the environment, i make my own clothes out of old ones sometimes, and i've never actually smoked pot, does this make me less "hippie"? when people make fun of me and tell me to "Shut up go smoke some more pot you fucking hippie!" should i say that i dont smoke pot, im not a hippie? ......Steriotypes...

Its just the "thing" to down labels. I myself think labels are just a way for people to find like minded people. The labels I dont like are the ones that put others down. I wear a lot of band shirts and what not... Thats kind of like labeling yourself, as a say... a Pink Floyd fan. But a lot of times like minded people will compliment me on my shirt, we get talking, and I've just made a new friend. Nothing wrong with positive labels IMO.

Man this is way off subject

I don't really see labels as a bad, horrible thing unless they are used to steryotype people into a negative, degrading point.

I prefer calling myself a hippie because I believe in the 'hippie' ethics.
    :)
