I think this is one of the best shows (if not the best) on tv right now. It is much more of a drama than a sci-fi show. The third season is the darkest by far, and I was wondering what other people's thoughts and opinions were, especially when rating have been lower than in the past two seasons. I honestly don't know why ratings haven't increased, and I can only assume it's because of the name and the network on which it is shown.

    :) Love,

P.S. This is the first time I've been back on the forums in over a year, so hi everybody!

Yeah, it really is a great drama and season 3 rocks (though I didn't particularly like The Passage, episode 10). Mary McDonnell and Edward James Olmos are awesome actors and like I said I can't believe more people aren't watching the show. It's not like the many generic "space operas" and I encourage everyone to go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

In fact, I was going to quit television althogether, but I still can't stop myself from watching BSG.

One of my only criticisms of the show right now is the faith Ronald D. Moore puts into the audience caring about the relationships between Lee, Kara and their respective marriages. I am apathetic to the entire love quadrangle and would rather see more scenes with Roslin or Adama (or pretty much anyone else for that matter).

    :) Love,

Really? I wonder if that's one reason why more people don't tune in. I suggest people try sitting down for a few epsidoes before making that judgment. It took me a few episodes to understand it, but once I realized what it was about I really came to love the show. I think maybe the hardest part is understanding the relationships of the characters, considering how much they have been through. But at the same time, you can explain the plot with: the humans were nuked by the cylons, now the survivors are on the run, searching for Earth (and so are the cylons).

...And crazy stuff happens along the way.

    :) Love,

Well it is not on a terrestrial network, in the UK. It is on a digital station. They tend to mix up the schedule sometimes. Plus the scheduling is buried in tiny print in the TV guides. I think i missed a few, i started well. Then i just ''lost the plot''. Hopefuly at some point it will be repeated.

The relationships were to complicated and the story arcs ''wild'' from the get go.

I just remeber the older version and that simple plot. I guess you can not get away with that now.

I'm sure 'god' or is it the 'devil' is in it... as i said, far to complicated for me.

I agree that at times it's really hard to follow the relationships--they are constantly evolving during each episode. Yet, when I started watching the series I still found it interesting even if I couldn't fully grasp the history between the characters. Actually, it was fun to go back and watch the first episodes and gain more insight into their interactions. However, I don't think the story arcs are wild in comparison to some of the sci-fi stuff that's out there. Except for the occasional contrived plot (Black Market, The Passage), the story arcs seem grounded compared to some other shows in the genre.

When I compare the old and the new, I think the biggest difference isn't so much that the new plot is complicated, but that the old BSG was more of a campy sci-fi show, whereas the new series is dark and deals with complex issues.
Not sure exactly what you're referring to, possibly the polytheism of the humans and monotheism of the cylons?

I think i am comparing it with the original.
That one was quite simplistic, and the story arcs were easy to follow.
Your right, i don't suppose they are that 'wild', in comparison to todays Sci-Fi series. I actually sat throught the whole of Babylon 5 *cough*. I think i did not give the show enough of my time and patience, so i do hope it is repeated. I'm sure with the way cable works, it will be.

I apprereciated the older show, but it all has been done bigger and better now. I am glad they expanded the plot and gave it greater depth. Plus more complex characters.

I remember some woman, only one person could see. She seemed to be in his head or something. Telling him the future. I doubt it was supposed to be god .
Looking it up, it was No. 6

She wields her drop-dead looks as a weapon, and her keenly intelligent eyes seem to look straight through Gaius Baltar's self-serving lies. Every move and gesture of this human-form Cylon is smooth and precise. She claims that God talks to her … and she, in turn, talks to Baltar. While her manifestation in Baltar's mind remains incorporeal, her numerous physical bodies each possess varying personalities and roles within the Cylon hierarchy.
