Hole in Freezer! Gas Leaking???

Not knowing your mom this is only guesswork but not telling her is only going to make her reaction worse.

I have a tough time thinking of a way to respond to this that will be taken positively... I urge you to do some deep soul searching on how the way you choose to deal with issues- how that may make things worse for you and provoke those around you. I'm sure you mean no harm but I can't imagine myself not hitting the roof if I were in your mom's shoes. The freezer damage and lost food becomes secondary to the appearance that you might not be taking full responsibility for what happened. I'm sure you mean no harm and that you feel strongly that you're doing the best thing but there are far better ways of dealing with something that is one of life's little tragedies in the big picture.

I believe in miracles... the miracles that dwell on us in the streets as we walk alone and suddenly stumble upon a cat you know one that has no will to live in its eyes anymore and only hunger and then you throw it your last piece of bread, and for a second... you see a spark, some colour... in its eyes.

 

Can the folks afford a new fridge or will this loss leave the family hungry for a while, due to the loss of food/major appliance?

Either way, I'm figuring you now know not to pull a Michael Meiers on the freon cooling coils in a freezer with a carving knife. This is a valuable life lesson.

If your parents are broke, PM me and I'll have a new fridge sent to your house. If you live in a McMansion, I'm sure there is one there already stocked with new food.

people do stupid shit all the time. no big deal. just work hard to make it all up to her. kiss her ass for a good while, help out an extra bit around the house, give a little money if you have it and ultimately she'll be happy with having a new fridge.
