I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but oh well.

My friend bought her mother tarot card kit thing for Christmas. Me and my friend tried using them tonight, but we have no idea how to read the cards. It gave us a book as of how to set them up and everything, but not how to read the cards. Is there any way, like, online that you could find out what the cards mean?

Yeah, good luck! Tarot is always fun, but I prefer the more non-traditional decks, so I don't have to memorize all the meanings. hehe

Yeah that would be a good idea. But my friend got it for her mom, and she never did tarot cards before, so she didn't know which deck to get or anything like that.

What deck are using? There are a few standard styles that a lot of decks are based on.
If it is something you are really interested in, you might be just as well spending some time and coming up with your own meanings/ways of reading them. These days when I read I am not so concerned about the book meanings, more about how they make me feel in the spread.

i feel it's best to learn the traditional meanings as they've been interpreted as such for centuries, but, once learned i have to agree with mkc - throw all that out the window and go with how they make you feel at the time

i know it sounds contradictory, but learning the traditional meanings gives you a broader knowledge of symbolism, making for a more effective personal interpretation down the road :)
