Dude, i can see your intentions are good. First of all is very unlikely even with the greatest equipment 12-17 pounds can't be achieve in your first grow. I can see you have never grow an MJ plant so it will be evern harder, rule of thumb for an EXPERIENCE grower .5 gram per watt. One pound(about 454.5 or something grams) means 1000w hid per pound wish means more or less 12 1000watters just to get close to the 12 pound mark. Of course a very experience grower can achieve more than that even maybe with less, but there are not too many anyway in the .5 gram per watt. So take it a bit easier if you want to grow your own pot, it is not that easy even with all the money in the world. Read some info on how to GROW, and then give it a try.

ahahaaahahahahaha phew, at least you've got ambition bro. I'll tell ya though, 12-17 per harvest is a dam high number, and you're not even going to come near that with one light, unless of course you're talking about the big halide in the sky. To get that much weight every harvest, you would need a house out in the country, a generator, around 10-20 lights, and a VERY efficient hydro system . sure ya could do dirt if you've got the cojones, but sounds commercial to me, no use in putting shit tons of effort into keeping it organic for some average potheads who can't tell the difference between beasters and some quality.. but it will take you years to hit that number man, unless you've got a mentor showing you the tricks of the trade day in and day out. On top of that, do you know how much work it is to prepare even a pound for sale/consumption? Man your hands won't even be able to open up after a p or two, guaranteed. Start small, or you won't progress. You gotta walk before you can run, and 12-17 is per harvest is like running in the olympics. Pick up a few books on the topic and read til your eyes bleed. Then build a simple scaled down version of what you think you're going to use in the end so you can get a feel for it, because even after reading a lot you don't know jack til you do it. Have a couple successful harvests before you expand.

With a 600 w you could pull a good 12 zips when everything is dialed in nice. A 1000 watter could pull an elbow easy.
