I knew my mom was cool, but I had no idea she was this cool... So I've been really getting into sustainable living and organic farming and everything. I've talked to my mom about it and she's really into it too. Well, she works for the foreign service now, but she's looking to buy land in the states to have somewhere to go on her vacations. And, since I'm graduating soon, and I have all these ideas about what to do with it, she's gonna let me stay on it!!!!! I can stay during school breaks, and full time once I graduate. I'm gonna start an organic garden, rescue animals, and build my own cob/strawbale house!!!! She's looking to buy this summer when she's in DC!! BAH!!!! I'm so excited!!! I've already told her I have friends who would want to help out Who wants to join me???!!! Where should I live??? It can be anywhere as long as its under $100,000 and at least 40 acres. SO EXCITED!!! -Kate
I don't know anything about where to buy land. But I would be in to help out- if you are looking for people.
lots of cheap land in western kentucky! you've gotta get out in the sticks but isent that a perfect place for a commune? I know for a fact there is some land around critteden/lyon county for 1500.00 an acre good land too some fields and some woods much has large spring fed creeks and all the wildlife you could dream of. pretty country! look for land thats for sale by owner! peace
Stay more south so the winters dont bother you as much and you'll also have longer growing seasons. I got a piece in east Texas warm all year, hour and a half from the coast 15 miles away from the nearest town of 5000 and the lot is wooded... but I'd stay south just for the warm factor.... South texas, south new mexico, south arizona (expensive for some reason) places like that....
hell look up the terlingua ranch its south texas and they are selling 20 acres for $6000 its very desert living though but the rio grand river is close and your allowed to hunt on your property if yer a meat eater, your property can also boarder the big bend national park if you want to buy that tract , but they have as much land as you want and the deals get better the more you buy. Phone lines and power available check it out...
Texas?? EEK!! I grew up in San Antonio and have had enough of Texas for one lifetime, thank you! Right now we've narrowed it down to the Pacific Northwest, as that would be nearest to family. As for Kentucky, well...I've already posed the Ozarks in Arkansas to her, and...yeah, that didn't go over too well .
well texas is pretty freakin big, too bad to write off that entire piece of land/state because of one town....
The only thing i dident like about texas was the heat, The humidite made it so nasty However i love the weather/dry heat of new mexico, so much so that i am looking to move their sometime later
