They keep me grounded and helps me remember where I came from and where I've been and most important, who I am. It reminds me that vanity is not important in life....

And I get an extra few minutes of sleep in the morning because I don't ever have to "do" my hair.

^^ basically everything she said, but ill add some more detail of my own haha
    - my dreads remind me of my beliefs, being free, being true to myself as in being who i am to the fullest, not being materialistic or vain, living simply, all of these things plus more.
my hair makes happy and i couldnt see myself without dreads haha. i think i would be lost without them because im so used them haha.
-I wear my hair in peace deffinitly, i dont judge others by the way they look, and i feel that my dreads do make a statement about that as well,
    -spiritually, just being FREE
    PEACE

i have dreads just to show that im a laid back ass kid, don't really care about much, loves the alternative lifestyle and smoking weed, and it keeps really preppy or dumb mean people that judge other people about stuff like hair too much away from me. and they look super cool when your surfing or skateboarding and they fly around everywhere. and they are just extremely fun to watch grow and change from what they were at the beginning

My dreads symbolize to me the infinate wisdom of nature. I identify myself as a wise-woman healer who uses herbs to holistically heal, and I'm a student midwife. To me birth is natural, safe and something women are designed to do. Hair is designed to dread, and like birth, it has it's own rhthym, it's own speed. So as far-out as that may sound, my dreads symbolize my marriage to nature.

my hair is like history. I keep records in it, like when my dog died i crocheted a lock of his hair into my own to honor the time i had with him. When i go on adventures I find things i can keep in my hair to remind me of that adventure. my locks symbolize my love for the outdoors and concern for the environment. I started my locks when I gave up eating meat and began a new road to spiritual enlightenment.

I first got dreads thinking this would be this huge enlightening experience. I've now realised that its gonna take more than not washing my hair to reach nirvana. And just keep them so i can make up bulshit stories when people ask me about my "doo".

They are my roots. They aid my spiritual nourishment by soaking up all the energy that surrounds me. They keep me firmly planted in the Earth and keep me aware of my connection to, and symbiosis with, our Mother. :) Sometimes I honestly feel like I would have floated away long ago without them.

i'm really just starting my journey, i'm hoping my locks will symbolize change in myself, my attitude on life, and my attitude on spirituality. i'm hoping they teach me patience, love and peace and i've begun to view my hair as something very personal and private, like a safe haven of sorts :)

    peace :)

I started them on New Yrs Eve in hopes that this will symbolize a change in my life... a change in my attitude on a lot of things... They symbolize patience, simplicity and personal growth...

I'm really happy with them, my old hair made me angry and too focused on how I looked, I would get depressed if my hair looked like shit... too much stress... I need to get rid of the things that make me stressed in my life & I didn't want to shave off my hair. LOL.

Awareness, of my self, the energy around me, and people I encounter.

Definantly change, away from focusing on the physical and the emotional, into my connection with this world, and my part in it.

Alot of commitment, because in tryin to get to a place where the negative energy that can some time be so engulfing can be transmuted into a enlightening expererience, that can be pretty tough sometimes. Especially when I feel like cutting them all off for a few breif seconds.

Letting go of judgement, my dreads are still new so I have alot of days where my hair is definantly doing it's own thing and I have to walk into an office full of people who have never seen a white girl with dreads, let alone be friendly and work with one....just loving all of them and letting that loving enrgy of the soul pour through me and flow all over them. Which some days I have a very hard time accomplishing, but I'm learning.

It was a choice and decision, I made for me alone.

And it's good sometimes to get the opportunity to remind myself and others that, it's just hair. Just like they have growing out of their head too.

And all of that makes me smile and who dosen't like to smile?

Getting dreads is a long journey, even though I started just two months ago I feel it is something special. I love my hair more now, it has a personality. For me it's something spiritual and something that shows who I am.

And, I don't bother to brush my hair
