The reason for the change in climate has more to do with the melting of the ice caps. Since the last ice age, the caps have been melting. This causes differences in the gulf stream and the ocean in general causing weather changes and makes our summers hotter and our winter's milder. I also believe that the sun is actually growing in size. once it dies it will be very big and bright red before it finally dies. the sun is not a planet but is a star. Your views please
If it "don't exist" how can it have "more to do with... the ice caps"? If it doesn't exist then it has nothing to do with nothing from a sheer lack of existing.
It's pretty much a dead issue ... global mean temperature has been demonstrated to be rising at a greater rate than would be expected from natural factors and has been observed to be rising in line with increasing levels of CO2 emissions over the past half a century or so. Global warming is happening and is being forced by human activity. I am also of the opinion that the sun is not a planet
global warming is a ntural phenomenom.. this is true.. it is to do with the slight woble of the earths axis... however. the co2 emissions are bringing it sooner and warmer than is naturally possible. do suggest that co2 does not play any part in global warming is, quite frankly, an idiotic standpoint. probably made by reading some random retards internet blog, and not at all based on the plethora of actuall scientific evidence to suppport the co2 global warming interaction.
Of course the sun is growing, and by the time it dies we (Earth) would be long gone before it does. It will grow to such a mass that it will engulf the whole of the solar system. Anyway, even if pollution has nothing to do with the global warming, I think it's still a good idea to cut down due to the effects on our own health. It doesn't take a scientist to tell you that breathing in pollution fucks you up...Okay, maybe it does, but still...
The ice caps have been melting since the end of the last ice age. With the melting of the ice caps, the cold ice melts, turns to water and floods into the gulf streams which then affects the weather conditions, temperatures and so on. Our oceans play a big part of the world's temps, weather formations and climate changes. Co2 emissions are greatly reduced now so our ozone layer has actually repaired itself since the late 80's when CFC was banned.
John, it's good practice to do some reading before forming opinions on things you clearly don't understand. Here's a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
Global warming is yet another pessimistic view of the demise of Human life. The world will not end tomorrow people(I knew we had a few Goths on this forum)
Well, it's more a set of theories accounting for the observed increase in global mean temperature over recent decades. There are other theories on the attribution of this change between natural and human factors and a consensus that it is being forced well above expected levels by the human use of hydrocarbon fuels which continue to release record amounts of co2 into the atmosphere.
The Ice caps have been melting since the Earth was last covered with ice. This is true, but where does the theory come from that the ice caps melting is heating the Earth up? Surely it's the other way round. The Earths atmosphere is trapping more gases, which is in turn increasing the temperature by about 0.5 Celsius, resulting in the caps melt down? If it rises by another 2.5 the sea level is predicted to rise by 4 metres due to the ice caps melting. This will cause severe weather change. The "Star" of our solar system will a red giant in around 5 billion years, so thats not the threat right now. It's that 3 degrees celsius that's causing concern. True, it is a natural phenonemon, but it shouldn't be happening this quickly, the metro office is shitting itself. The greenhouse effect is definitely real, your optimistic veiw that states there's nothing to worry about is sexy but it won't save our childrens future. We're on borrowed time from them. And we're fucking it up for them, we have to act fast. We have the technology to live not far off the way we do now with much less emissions but we're not utilising it. Why? The mind boggles, people just aren't waking up to the facts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_giant
Please do some research, J0hn. We are not "goths" and are not being overly pessimistic. Do you seriously think people make this up and believe in global warming for fun? That we like knowing were to blame? Just reasearch. Properly. Learn the real figures instead of giving out vague sentences about ice ages and natural phenomena Thank you
John, erm, you're wrong. It would be a waste of time to provide a more elaborate refutation given the transparency of your wrongness, so I'll leave it at that. :jester:
john is slightly correct about those things that are happening, but they are greatly accelerated due to the industrial revolution, and irreversably damaged with the newer technologies, like air conditioning, of the past 30 or 40 years. the great fear is that we are accelerating the damages faster than the earth and nature would be able to normally adapt.
What a load of crap!! Firstly the ice caps are melting due to an increase in global average temperatures. Melt water flooding in to the gulf stream is a lot more complicated than that. Infact it is subject to on going research. We still don't know what the effect of it is as it has only really been studied very recently. You are right about the fact that the oceans do play a big role in the worlds climate. Actually CO2 has been increasing. Again this is subject to on going research. The ozone layer is slowly repairing itself. Infact it still has some way to go, but increased CO2 levels mean that the ozone layer is taking longer to repair itself. Before you start posting what amounts to crap I sugest you read up about it. I would like to know where you got your information from and how you came to your conclusions. I could point you to people who would give the facts and put you straight on a few things. Matt
