My generation owes a lot to the Vietnam Veterans Against The War for helping bring that war to an end. Now it's time for another generation to do its part. Please show them your support. http://www.ivaw.org/

    Great!

So now where are the students against the war? Just because there is no draft yet, do many remain apathetic?

It's a disgrace that many young people who aren't being personally ordered to risk life and limb haven't got their protest groove on yet. Have Britney Spears and Paris Hilton really had such a devastating effect on their brains?

Yes...those WMDs were the masses of my fellow comrades who have been successfully brainwashed with fear of their superiors. Cheney and the Good ol' Boys realized that these men and women could be easily controlled with little more effort than a signature from the Chief himself, and that much wealth could be achieved. through the use of this valuable asset.

    LAUNCH OFF TO WAR!!!

Some certainly don't, but being recently removed from college, my experience was either one of apathy or right wing support with the majority of people I met.

Hmmm. I imagine that's the way the administration wants it, and that's the only reason they haven't reinstated the draft.

There..i'm now a member of the SDS, and i'm starting my own chapter in my city. There's no way in hell i'm letting my city stay asleep about the war and how Stephen Harper is sending our troops into Afghanistan as war-mongers instead of peace keepers.

I respect your perspective. You have a better one than mine. I suspect apathy, but i also suspect supporting the war is not 'fashionable'.

I should add i support the 'war' and after long debate, support the ratioanle. I don't consider myself that 'right wing' but maybe i'm wrong. Maybe being 'right wing' is more a object of scorn because it is seemingly 'wrong'. I think my opinion is my own, and have every right to think anyway i like [to a certain degree].

Newo - You seem to base your Post on an assumption, in fact quite a few assumptions! First off, who says the outcome of the Viet Nam war is what people should strive for?

Strive for? No, I wish we could bring peace, prosperity and freedom to Iraq, but it's plainly not going to happen.

Assumption? I don't assume the Iraqis want us out of their country, I don't assume our idea of freedom is repulsive to many of them, I don't assume Sunnis and Shiites are killing each other in a bloodbath that's spiraling out of control and I certainly don't assume we're not winning this war. It's all become clear.

So you want to keep the troops in Iraq until the situation is stabilized? Our presence there has caused the ever-growing instability, my friend. Enough is enough, bring the troops home.

If we leave Iraq now we will have to go back and defend Iraq from Iran. Iran has already stated that they will handle Iraq if we don't.
