Has anyone here read "Remember to be here Now"? Absolutly life changing, please let me know what you think! I've been obsessed with beat and hippie lit for a long time now, and I have no idea how I missed this book!
Yea it's a good one ehh. I'm in the middle of "The Only Dance There Is" by Ram Dass. I just get the feeling of being wrapped up by his love in the two books that I've read of his. I love you Ram.
I havent read that one yet "The only dance". It's funny how much Timothy Leary I've read and missed this one.
You've read plenty of Leary eh, very nice, me too, well more than a few I guess. Do you have a favorite or a most powerful of his? I loved Exo-Psychology, "wow" is about all I can say. I wounder how many other people are reading Leary now days and having his philosophies change their perspectives at least a little bit, sometimes I feel like the only one who's reading philo lit. at all where I'm from. If you're down, we should get together and chill sometime sherri; yea you're older and everything but just as humans yk. Peace Alex
I am an existential psych major, so my favorite reading of his are in the quantum psychology area. I know what you mean about feeling like your the only one into this stuff, I often think that and then I have to remind myself I'm not realy out there looking too hard either. My husband is the guitar instructor for Peirce Collage and we have our own guitar repair shop here in Puyallup, and he works out of one in Fed Way. We have lot's of big bonfire BBQ's in the spring and summer, the season is just starting. Everyone sits round the fire telling stories and playing music. Intelligent and kind hearted people from everywhere are welcome. They don't have to be intelligent, but nice is important he-he. Come on down sometime!
I just purchased this book today! It was recemended to me by a friend, and it looks incredible. I flipped through a few pages and loved it. I wont be able to really sit down and read it until next week though. really bums me out ... but when I do read it i'll be sure to let ya'll know what I think.
It's not really one to sit and read all at once. The initial biography is but the rest is more of something you page through and read as it interests you. I have found the stuff I'm not ready for will seem too wierd and dull to bother with but then wham, one day it's all I can think about and challenges and changes everything! Have fun and let me know what you think!
Loooove this book. I've shown it to several people and they immediatly went out and bought their own copy.

i've read the book, but i wouldn't say i've ever 'finished' it. i don't think i'll ever be 'finished' with that book. definately an inspiration. it was one of the first influences in my life that started to pry my eyes open to certain truths.
If you liked Be Here Now, pick up a copy of Seed. This is something like Be Here Now. Square paperback format, brown pages, green type. No auther is listed but Ram Dass does the intro. It is stated in the book that it is a pod containing 210 pages of writing and a few drawings and a whole bunch of white pull out card stock images to assemble into collages ...and tear out I-Ching cards. Instructions are given for games, etc. to use all this stuff for. It includes sections on the tarot, Kabbala, Islam, Zen, Buddha, Hinduism, etc. etc. Appears to be out of print, Amazon has 7 used. I seem to have lost all the card stock. Another one is Toward the One compiled form lectures by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan a Sufi master, from 1970 -73. ISBN 06-0900352-X. Same format, same group worked on this one as Be Here and Toward The One. Geez I just checked the price, Amazon has three from $69.00 to $90.00 bucks!!! I paid like $3.00 or something!! Shoot...the link isn't working...use this one... Amazon.com: Toward the one (Harper colophon books): Books: Pir ...
I can't believe I haven't heard of this dude being a huge fan of kerouac snyder, leary, huxley, shulgin, ginsberg, etc etc. I gotta check him out.
Be Here Now is a must read for anyone wanting to be a free human being. The title really says it all. I know so many people for whom this book was the beginning of their journey from straightness to the other side. If you ain't read it yer missing out.
I would like to read it. Can anyone give me a quote from the book? Or at least a general overview? Peace and love
