Dude! Both Kiss and Nirvana were HORRIBLE musicians. Don't give kiss the credit of killing anything.

Are you asking if Rock 'n Roll died or Rock?

    Two different styles of music.
Rock & Roll derived from the blues sounds of the black south.
Don't put Metallica or some british pop band in the same catagory.

British pop and nowadays Metallica aren't only bad examples of rock 'n roll, they aren't good examples of rock neither.

Of course your right about your rock 'n roll definition, but when I'm talking about rock 'n roll I'm talking about rock with the essential rock 'n roll vibe/attitude what makes rock so great, you know what I mean?

    superbly funny stupid answer...
some said that the revolution of psychedelic drugs who arrived progressively since 1965 killed rock n roll... i dont think the same...its even the contrary it gives rock n roll more diversity and offer new adventurous manners to play... it opened the rock n roll ... But it s difficult to guess what will be the history of rock n roll without the arrive of hippie culture... it s a mystery

For the Kiss thing... it s real that Kiss was a show before music...and in this way they maybe were not a very good thing for the future days of rock but musically Kiss are considered as good musicians who recorded good records between their beginning in 1973 to 1978 ... Rock critics things like that and myself too... their later albums can be critisize yes

I know what you mean. The music has to have the same vibe even if it's not so in your face.
Sadly, there is a lot of useless crap on the radio now.

I think your answer is stupid and arrogant.

Rock N Roll faded into Rock in the mid 60's.

It s impossible to not been arrogant some times in a looong human life... even the most peacfull man can t escape that...so i m just a simple human u know...with some arrogance here and there... hopefully it s rarely the case... or it happens always when you enter in the Show...i dont know why ...this is maybe because real hippie dont really like water of bath very much...i prefer the woodstock muddy version ...

I wouldn't consider it dead. While bands themselves may no longer play, the music that they created will live on forever. I would consider rock 'n' roll as being more in a coma right now, and it is waiting for someone to awaken it. You have to admit, these newer bands can not hold a candle to the older classic rock 'n' roll music. There may be some underground newer music that is decent, but it is still no comparison.

P.S.: I don't lump Nirvana in with the other great rock 'n' roll bands. In fact, I can't stand their music.

    P.S. P.S: Don't kill me. :leaving:

PROPER ROCK died in 1991 when Metallica released their eponymous album. There hasn't been a great ROCK album since then, but ther has been some good stuff.

Dude, there has been released some fabulous rock albums after 1991. You just haven't heard them, so don't be so pretentious to claim there aren't good rock bands making good old fashioned rock.
There really is good rock around. You people just seem to want it to be dead. There's still more rock out there then the alternative rock/metal, pop rock and what else kind of modern stuff you hear and see on the radio and tv. And it's good. You just have to take the effort to go out and see them. Maybe it isn't as popular as in the 70's, but it just is a fact that rock 'n roll is far from dead.
