Would a storage cabinet, similar to this one http://www.metalcabinetstore.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=160, work to grow a couple of plants? Due to our limitations, my friend and I do not have a room we can turn into a grow room, so we are trying to find ideas on how to make a small growing area that we can move easily. How big of box should I build in the bottom to hold the roots? Will I need to find a bucket to drain water into? Anything else I should know? Thanks.
im not an expert on these things but i think that should work, if your just looking to use it yourself... you may need too trim the plant down as it grows
Check this out: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=32950&highlight=c24 Seems perfect for your needs. They can be bought at homdepot and fit either a 400w or 600w nicely with proper ventilation. Not sure about an ebb and flow really, I don't grow hydro. Soil is easier, for me atleast.
dude... basically you can use about any cabinet you get your hands on.. only problem with metal cabs and hidro... is the water... so you need some ventilation .. not to mention that a light source will raise the temp a little too much... so you're still gonna have to make big holes through which light will be easily noticed... best be careful with these kind of things.. if you can make something to cover the vent holes you should have no problem make vents in the bottom and the top... and cover 'em up with dense black cloth.. not too dense to halt air circulation.. but not too loose to let too much light out
