    I have a serious crush on a girl I tutor in my co-op. She's in grade 9 and I'm in grade 12. I feel like a pedophile because when I think of the other kids in her class I think of them as, well, kids. She's a different story as she's very mature (and just lovely). She's also insinuated her own potential homosexuality which leaves me in an even bigger bind since if she were straight I wouldn't be as willing to consider her. If I'm not a big ole perve then what should I do to get her attention?

    It's not pedophilic. For it to be pedophilic, two criteria must be met:

    1) The person to whom you're attracted must be under 13;
    2) The person to whom you are attracted must be at least five years younger than you are

    If she's in 9th grade, then she must be at least 14. And your age is 17.

    Your not a Perv. I Admit I am 13 But I am mature for my age. I dated a 16 year old in 11th Grade when i was only in 7th. We loved eachother and thats all that counts. Personaly I don't no how you can get with her But maybe like she might like you Aswell.

    A senior dating a freshman is not anything abnormal or unusual.

    is that definately the case whre the author is because I know the law differs in different countries and in different states.
    and I believe although I could be wrong that this girls perants could take you to court if you did start a relationship with her, regardless of the law, maybe someone more in the know could tell us about this

    Depends on the age of consent. In my state, it's 16.. the police cant do anything about your sexual relations if the age of consent is met and both persons consent to the whole thing. My sis works disbatch and she says they get calls all the time from angry parents whose kids are seeing much older partners.. but the police can't do anything about it, legally. That's the family's problem, not the government's.

    Because of that, it's still risky to be in a sexual relationship with someone under this age, even if you have met the criteria..

    well in that case the author could end up in a lot of trouble, because s/he is over the age of consent and the person is under, if the age of consent is 16.
    also the morality of having a sexual relationship with someone who you are tutoring and thus in a senior persition is questionable to say the least

    to add to that 14 and 15 is in my opinon way to young to start a sexual relationship with someone, moonlight having a crush is one thing, acting on it is another I would urge you to think about what acting responsibly is in this situation

    the more important point is what S mentioned: she's in a position of trust.
    Moolight, this is one where you are going to have to say "you will make someone very happy in the future."

    I don't think there's anything wrong with a 17 and a 14 or 15 year old dating, personally.

    A girl from highschool told me she liked me (now she's in college) so we decided to hook up (I always had a crush on her but I thought she was straight), and I just figured that I'd let the whole Meghan (14 year old) thing go.

    It's the scientific definition. You won't see those words written in law books.
