I've been on Tri Cyclen Low for about 8 months now, maybe a little more, and I have started to have some weird things happen.
I finished my last pack as usual about 3 weeks ago. Then one night, a week and 4 days into my new pack, I missed one pill at bed time (when I always take it). I had a period the next morning, but no cramps, nada. The blood was bright bright bright red and dark brown...not a typical period....usually it's a beep red with a little brown at the end.
I got it on Christmas day (nice day to get a period, eh....and we had no pads or tampons in the house, lol) and it just ended yesterday. I thought that it was really weird that I got a period that fast. Normally I would wait about 3-4 days for it to come.
    Anyone had this happen before?
I stopped taking it for now, just to be sure. This was really odd. Especially since it was a week and a half after my last period. I actually tried to keep taking my pill to replace the one I missed like it says you're supposed to do, but it didn't work and the period kept going.

I take the same kind of birth control as you, and i experienced the same problems. if i would miss taking a pill when i was supposed to, my period would either come the next day or shortly after that, or it wouldn't come at all, even if i continued taking the pill like i didn't miss one. my mom told me to quit taking the pill until my next period comes, so i could get back to a regular schedule and everything, and i haven't had my period in months! i don't know if its the type of birth control, or something in my body, but i want to change birth control brands, because the type that we are both on, i always hear bad shit about!

Sounds familiar. I used to be so bad at remembering to take the pill at the right time and that lead to my cycle being all wonky and all over the place.

Yeah, I used to be like that...but even then my cycle wasn't all over. Now I am really picky about taking it on time at bed time. I hardly ever miss pills anymore...and this is really the first time that this happened. The other times that I have missed pills, it takes about 3-4 days for my period to come.
I'm thinkin it's time to go see the doctor.

That happens to me all the time. I forgot to take the pill and now I'm still spotting.

It's nothing to worry about. The thing is, when you're on the pill, you never really have a real period. You just get breakthrough bleeding. A real period disposes of a non-fertilized egg, whereas in break-through bleeding it's just your body's natural response to the sudden drop in hormones that comes from missing a pill.

the same happened to me with the same pills.. i missed a dose, 2 weeks after my period had ended and i had my period again!

i stopped taking those pills, because i was taking them in first place to regulate my period. I am going now with Mirena.. is like a T they insert in your uterus and has hormones.. regulates the period, gets rid of acne and cramps, it makes u bleed just a lil bit, and the periods are shorter. Lasts for 5-7 years, but if u get a veneral disease, it scars the uterus and u cant have babies. i am married so i dont worry about that. It is ver expensive.. around $500.. but my husband is military, so is free.

Yeah, I have stopped taking them now.
I was actually thinking about using marina, but since we're planning on having kids again in the next 4 years, I didn't think that it was really a good fit.
