PLATO - The Prophet for the Gentiles To the Philosophy Professors, the Lovers of Wisdom! Download the entire book for free: http://whyplato.carlislecooper.com/Plato/Plato-The Prophet for the Gentiles.pdf My name is Brigitte Dehmelt Cooper. This letter is not SPAM. I am passionately involved in the great concepts of philosophy, being concerned with the concepts of truth; having awareness of distinctions, the longing for joy and satisfactions, and maintaining Hope in the face of great tragedies. Coming to terms with the problems of Theodicy, not losing trust in the power and goodness of God, who tolerates much evil in the world, yet being the supreme reality in the Cosmos. I have attached a PDF copy of my self-published book, ÒPlato: The Prophet for the GentilesÓ, for you to review and to critique, if you feel so inclined. I am not trying to sell my book nor promote it for profit. I simply wish to share my lifelong undertaking and show that PlatoÕs definition of the Creator God is valid. He created the Cosmos - the region of all distinctions that have intelligibility to the intelligence of human awareness (being), and to auto-kinesis (self-movement), that is the ability of the soul. These qualities belong to the human power to distinguish and know, and are due to His generosity. Plato is the Prophet for the Gentiles because he affirms with those distinctions the supremacy of the timeless reality of the soul, which is named ÔCreator GodÕ. PlatoÕs validation of the Creator God has nothing to do with the common ÔproofsÕ which use the axioms that define the syllogism. It rather rests on knowing the distinctions in the human will, through which we have awareness of simultaneity in likeness between intelligibility and intelligence, and the different genetic, physical relation Ôin the likeness ofÕ: son to father. The Occident, Europe, was blessed with the insight of the universality of valid distinctions named ÔtruthÕ, affirming that: "Knowing distinctions precedes thinking." We are all called by our ability to rely on distinctions. AristotleÕs claim: Òthat nothing is in the mind that was not prior in the senses!Ó, is the prejudice of contemporary "wisdom"! Intelligibility and Intelligence are the great abilities of humanity, with which we can partake in ÔdivineÕ reality. To confuse ÔthinkingÕ with ÔknowingÕ is the erroneous conviction of the misleading assertion that, humanity has no contact with meaningful ÔeternityÕ, which is called by mankind, the Ôdivine sphereÕ. Socrates and Plato knew differently, not through special information only given to some chosen person through Ôsuper-naturalÕ or ÔdivineÕ revelations, but rather through clarity in their thoughts, being comprehensible to the human understanding of distinctions which invite us to willingly embrace the Õlaw of loveÕ. Here follows the reasoning of SocratesÕ address to every Athenian passing by him in the Market Place encouraging them to: "KNOW THYSELF!" Please take the time to read my work and share it with colleagues and students. I would very much like to know your thoughts, praise or criticism, comments or rants. I am willing to provide as a gift, a bound copy to anyone who sincerely desires it. Simply email me with your request, and hopefully some comments, along with a postal mailing address (sorry, no P.O. To call Plato a prophet is an insult. He was a philosopher, and perahps one of the greatest, even if large amounts of his work are considered pretty redundant today. 'Prophets' are generally non too bright. The OT prophets were evidently fear filled beings who were incapable of original thought or intuition. Same for the Prophet of Islam.
