tourists vs. travelers

do you know the difference??

 

travelers go far and on their own and do whatever they want. tourist are those peepz who like getting a guide , and some souvenirs.

 

travelers like souveniers too....

 

topurists invade places as outsiders..while travelers go places and live there as locals..sorta...or maybe better way to put it is..tourists are the ones pointing and saying look mom..hippies...take a picture ...lol

Tourists are those who exploit other peoples land for their own recreational value.

Travelers are those who strive to understand different cultures and absorb things through experience from the natives.

i am so glad to see that everyone recognizes the difference.....I live in an area that is ripe with tourist in the summer, and travelers in the winter......we dont take too kindly to tourists. They come here on vacation, act like drunk assholes, trash our beach, treat the locals like shit...but any traveler is welcomed with wide open arms and a place to stay and good food and good people. Someone said that travelers expend energy...I agree. What's that saying?? You get back what you put out? If you come to a place with respect, you will get back respect and then some.
