my grandma just came upstairs. this is not normal, not normal at all. she said my my cousin chrissy and sabrina were fighting. my cousin chrissy is in kansas right now. so they were fighting and my grandma asked them a question, and they inturn got mad at her. so she said screw it and came upstairs. she walked out the door, locked it, walked around the house, and up our stairs. this is all in the dark. her meds are really messing her up.
i dunno. all i know is they make her hallucinate and have bad dreams she called the other morning crying, saying autn jerry (her sister) was struck by a car - which didn't happen.
not normally, and then when she does, its not much. maybe a half a beer. the last time i know she had a drink was on dec 24. prior to that, i dont' think she had anything to drink for a long time...
What does she take medication for? I think your family should talk to the doctor, they may need to increase or decrease the dosage of the medication...depending on what the medication is for. People aren't supposed to be acting like that, so...ya'll should talk to the docs.
Perhaps it's one of those Star Trek cross-dimensional shift kinda things, where your grandmother is experiencing the events (as they're actually unfolding) but in a parallel universe. Either that or perhaps it is I, should cut back on the meds Hotwater
i don't know what she's on...i know she has diabetes. i dunno. but i agree about talking to the doctors. it just scares me because she might end up doing this when winter actually gets here and no one will know untill too late
Her blood sugar could be too high or low, which can cause her to act really strangely. My friend's husband has diabetes and if he doesn't get his insulin or his sugar gets too high or low, he starts acting erratically. One time, he locked himself into a closet, stripped himself naked, and barked like a dog. She had to call the cops to hold him down so she could give him his insulin. That can do it too.
yea, she has had a few problems due to her diabetes where she was taking to the hospital i don't know...not up on my knowledge for diabetes
My grandma had similar problems recently, and they were all due to opium, something a doctor had prescribed to her 40 years ago. Her new doctor put her in the hospital to ween her off of the opium and she's been a lot better ever since. Your family should definitely schedule a doctor's appointment and see if you can't find a root to these problems. There is no reason why someone should have to live in fear and hallucinations.
Awww, poor grandma. She doesn't have alzheimers, does she? My husband's grandmother has it, and she's done a lot of things like that. She's in really bad shape right now, poor thing.
It does sound like some sort of dementia/alzheimer's. My sister is a diabetic and does do some odd things at times but not to that extent.
when my mom's blood sugar issues were undiagnosed, people thought she was drunk all the time. she'd slur and act all crazy and emotional, she'd rearrange furniture in the middle of the night and be all kinds of bizarre. as soon as they put her on a special diet, she was a totally normal (for my family) mom again.
