Ok so i really want a lip ring but my parents have already told me no and will freak if i get one anyway now. They wont let me get one until i graduate this summer but i wont be able to get one then if im going to be surfing at the beach and in mexico (sea water and pools = bacteria)

My friend was told by her piercer to replace her tongue ring with heavy fishing line while at the dentist.

How obvious would it be if i had fishing line in my lip while it heals when im at home? Does the fresh piercing look more than a little red dot or something passable for a pimple with nothing in it or fishing line you think?

Im sure this is extremely stupid question but im kinda desperate haha

seems like that would be really noticable, and wouldnt the sea/pool be clean because of chlorine and salt? i mean all it would do is sting the area. basically either do it and deal with your parents or wait hidding wont work i dont think

Healing it with fishing line sounds like a bad idea. How would you sterilize the fishing line?

the whole thing sounds like a bad idea. just get it when you can follow the normal instructions the piercer gives you.

Haha i know its kind of bad idea i was just curious on opininons

But the fishing line is because it is plastic, slick, and won't absorb anything that could possibly jeapordize the health of the piercing and can still be easily cleaned.

i know several who sugest it when going to the dentist or under surgery since no jewlery is allowed

why not just wait until you are out of your parents house to get the piercing?

I'm so sick of stupid rebelious teenagers, you give us a bad name

your parents feed you and clothe you and let you live in their house, and you can't respect such a simple rule in return?

the only non noticible ways to get away with it are 1.clear retainer or 2. just take the outside ball off...it makes it look like a tiny pimple.

I say you stop trying to be a bad ass and wait.
It won't hurt to have it done when you graduate. You have, what....4 or 5 more months? If you maintain your piercing and clean it when you get out of the water, then it won't hurt to have your piercing while your surfing and the like.
If you don't want to clean it after you get out of those places, then you're too immature for body mod anyway.

I hate it when people post rude remarks in these threads....

Any ways, if your going to get it, maybe get a clear retainer like sweetdredlover said, but maybe grow some sort of facial hair so you could hide it a little better.
