what do you think of them? heard any bad things? I think I want to try them but not sure.... any suggestions
well, a few years ago, there was a big stink about how they really screwed over some WAHM small businesses when the company was sold to a big corporation, but that's ancient history by now. Most of their products do contain artificial fragrances that cause me to have a serious reaction. The fragrance in the baby lotion irritates one of my children's skin, but not the other. Compared to the other crap you can buy at Walmart, they are much preferable, but I'd rather give my money to a smaller company who doesn't use questionable ingredients.
I LOVE Burt's Bees. I actually bought some today, the lip balm and two kinds of toothpaste, one for me and one for my son. I've used the shampoo bar, the facial soap, the lotion, the body cream, the soap, the toothpaste, three kinds of lip balm, and the lip shimmer. It makes my skin so soft and it's all natural. And the prices are totally reasonable too.
no offense to burt or his bees but if you have some olive oil, beesswax, a vitamin E acap and maybe a little essential oil, you can make all that in your kitchen. I recycle the old containers and just refill it. There's so much crap in commercial products it's insane..
You are right. I didn't realize just how bad they were until I spoke to one of my patients who works at a chemical plant that makes household goods. Things like 409, shampoo's, lotions, makeups, detergants....etc. Well, he went completely natural and organic after taking that job. He told me he isn't even authorized to speak about what goes into the stuff to the public!! He signed a contract! OMG that is crazy right..He said to me...ruth if you only knew what goes into that stuff...he said it's unethical!!!! so since this man changed his entire life after taking that job-that says something! He even changed his diet due to what goes in food and what not! so ur right...it's BAD NEWS! hooray for all us natural hippies!
oh and I love the coconut foot lotion and the tinted chapstick. I wear a lot of eye-make-up but hate lipstick so it's perfect.
I really liked the Honey-flavored lip balm. I plan to try the other products in the future. Unfortunately, around here the products are rather expensive. But I'd rather pay the price for a natural organic product than buy something cheap that has dangerous chemicals in it.
well as a vegan i wont touch their items as they contain small traces and even bigger in some things of beeswax, not to mention honey and honey derivitives.
I've used Burt's bug repellant, and it actually worked for the most part. But I found it ATTRACTED flies in Australia (couldn't have been me, now could it?) lol! The bug repellent uses citronella and lemongrass and smells good, no harmful DEET or other shit. I highly recommend it for use against mosquitos. I've been using Dr. Bronner's products for more than 30 years now. The best thing they've done is switch to hemp oil in all their products. What happened is after Dr. Bronner died, his kids took over and are doing a much better job marketing & coming up with new products. ALL-IN-ONE Faith!
Burt's Bee's is not organic or all natural. Organic means that all the products are botanical and are not contaminated with pesticides, something the company does not claim. All natural is an iffy term nowadays, and burt's bees definetly has certain non naturaly derived chemicals. If you want truly organic products that are super good for you, try terressentials.com. I use their stuff all the time and its great.
I live 15 minutes away from the dr bronner place. you can take empty bottles in and fill up for two bucks, it's awesome!
