The thing is there are other ways to discipline children so they learn to LISTEN to their parents and have respect without ever laying a finger on them.

i do know i have the common sense not to leave things like that out for kids to get their hands on, ive had kids around my place before and never had a problem.

if it did happen it would probably involve him having to klean that up but i wouldnt lay a hand on my kids sorry

then he wont get either or any junk food for awhile until he can agree to not do that or maybe not play a video game, do without cartoons, not be allowed outside to play for a few days.

there are so many non violent ways to handle it

beat/spank ur kids all u want, i will never agree with it. but its your kids, fuck the up if you want, if you wanna be remember as the guy to fear when he has his belt and not their father then go for it.

i just couldnt lay a hand on my kid unless he grew up to be a rapist or a pedo then id beat him senseless

Ho shit, I could see corporal punishment being tempting in such a situation (the paint thing), but Daniel and I were discussing punishment methods and found one that could also be torturous. Our idea is to strip their room of everything they own, aside from their clothes and basic furniture and very minimal blankets. Of course we'd keep the house warm enough that they'd still be able to sleep fairly comfortably, but everything else gets locked away and they spend every moment they aren't in school or making up the debt that would cost by working for Dan at $5 an hour, and working/behaving to get their "non-essential" items back. Not only would they be punished, but they'd also be learning what it is to work for what you have. Just an idea, of course, we don't have kids to test it on yet, lol.

No, I think next time the parents need to make sure that the paint is in a place where the kids can't find it.

Which, although messy, can be cleaned up with soap and water.

Trust me, as a mother of three, two of which are twins, I've had my share of disasterous messes. Yes, the messes can be overwhelming, and yes you can feel like you're ready to snap, but hey.

Yesterday, one of my twins decided to dump his snack all over the floor while I was downstairs trying to do laundry. I mean, it was everywhere. So, I had to clean that up. No sooner did I clean up that mess did one of the twins start spitting milk all over the floor and couch in the living room. Why? Because it got a hysterical giggling reaction from their oldest brother. Yes, I sighed, scolded, and then cleaned up that mess.

Kids are kids. They're messy little creatures sometimes. It's part of the job.

Children HAVE to be taught. Their natural instinct is to do bad. It's our responsibility as parents to teach them right from wrong. How do you think they'll learn?

A parent should know that leaving a paint can in reach of little ones is not smart. Why do you think there are classes that help teach parents to baby proof?

Children need discipline and consistancy. They need structure. They require it. How do you think they'll get it? PARENTS!!!!

Parenting is the HARDEST most exhausting job in the world. Rinse and Repeat then do it again.
