I am taking my first attempt with growing with my dad's help. Right now the seeds are in 1 big flower pot together in a closet with a regular lamp running from about 8 am-12am. we are buying 2 uv lights and setting up the plants in their own soil with miracle grow. I have no idea what kind of seeds we have. on average what is the time before i can actually harvest. My plants are till very thin and droopy should I tie them to something till they can stand on their own? (which i did do) i will post pics when i get home
dude your plant is gona be fuckin retarded once your finish, no offense but that plant wont yield much. What you need to do is get some organic soil and use that. Istead of uv lights or w/e just get some regular florescent 40-60 watt works fine. line all your walls with alluminum foil and so the light bounces off. thats step 1. step 2 you need to germinate seeds (just put them ina moist paper towel and let them sit you'll known when there germinating) after you've done that and know that it will produce a plant you can know plant the seed. Have the light on for 24/7 and after a week or 2 when the second set of leafs appear switch that baby to 16/8. this will put you into the vegegative stage. Im going to stop here because my arm is hurting but really just look online how to grow its very helpful and miracle grow burns your plant dont use it
yah i get paid friday so im gonna get the lights and seperate pots. mediums sized pots. how many lights per plant would be recommended (should i use tubes or should i use bulbs) i am buying flourescent lights for this. i am getting new seeds tonight so i will start germinating them friday but i still want to work these plants a bit too so ill see how many seeds i get and shit before i decide if i will keep the plants in work and see if i can fix them i will open a grow diary for the next seeds and put in next step plans to get feedback and tips before i do so and everyday i will take pics and update
You'll want cool white light for the veggie state. CFL's work great for smaller spaces. When the plants are small you can get by with fewer lights, but when they get bigger a good idea is about 2600 lumens per plant. I wouldn't sugest putting aluminum foil on the walls, as it can harm the plants. Just paint the walls of the grow area with a flat white paint. If ya have money to spend on it, you can get mylar to put up on the walls. And almost everyone here will bash on miracle grow, but it's not that bad of a fert, it's just not organic. Good luck with your first grow. --Dash
for my first grow I used 4 four foot CFL's (8 bulbs total) and lined my 3'x5' room with Mylar. only had one plant. but I prolly could grow 1 or 2 more plants with that(still kinda a newbie so maybe not) but anyways they worked great. I keep my plant short but fat, and it was very healthy looking to me. it did not yield a huge amount. about 1/2oz but it was my first grow and once it got started it was very easy to do. I even harvested the buds and then put the plant back under the lights timed to veg. and harvested again about 2 months later. only have 3 grows under my belt so as a new grower like you. my advice would be use the CFL lights in the most simple setup. just grow a one or two plants, sit back, take notes, grow it and you will learn so much.. I think I learned more in 3 grows than I did in my last year of high school. and now im off to give hydro a try, and gonna get me a hps light too.
fuzionx - I suggest you do some reading before your crop gets wasted (instead of you!!). Jorge Cervantes Marijuana Horticulture The indoor/outdoor Medical Grower's Bible This book will tell you all you need to know - and more. There's also a dvd version available, but the book is much more in-depth.
Listen to Lofrequency. Read a bit, and get your basic setup good, that is the best 1st step you can take. Light cycles and types are very important. Compact Flourescents work very well to get started, but get the biggest wattage of them you can find. You can run an entire crop under compact flo's but I don't recommend it. Been using MG soil for years now. It's a little warm for some right out of the bag, but for about 7 of 10 strains it does great in my experience. BTW, use big containers by the time you get to flowering stage, and you'll get better buds, if all is good. Peace, and if you need any info, PM me.
