I haven't eaten meat in perhaps 9-10 years.
I still crave meat in the sense that it tastes very good (though I mean this only if there are MANY spices and other flavorings on it). To be more extreme here, I bet human meat tastes good. I accept this because to me it's true and in the case of preference of what I like it is. That has nothing to do with my actual choices though. They are based on more than just "yummy yummy."

I grew up as meat being a primary item in every meal due to parents and a lack of knowing what was done to animals to make the meal available.

I have noticed that using that fake mayo made from grapeseed helps me with that urge for a fatty substance that replaces real mayo on a sandwich. That leads me to believe in the case of meat you need something hearty. I usually make a stew (all vegan of course) for those days.

I've been having desperate cravings for meat of practically any kind ever since I became a vegetarian one year ago. And these aren't for any reason other than that I absolutely ~love~ meat... :/ Hamburgers.. pizzas.. everything... They don't seem to be going away

None of you people make any sense to me. Humans like Bears are omnivores meaning they normally would eat meat and fruits/vegetables. I mean you don't hear of a bear saying one day that it will no longer eat meat.

Of course some meats in excess arnt healthy but cmon fish is a good one to choose.

I have heard before that simply being a vegan or someone who excludes fats completely from the diet is actully unhealthy.

Studies have been shown that excluding fat completely isnt good but limiting Saturated fats and using more Poly-unsaturates or Mono-unsaturetes is good for oneself.

ginseng, none of us have told you what to eat. please extend that same courtesy. this IS the vegetarian/ vegan forum.
your comments are also off topic.

bears and other non-human animals are unable to make moral and ethical choices because the concept of moral and ethical is tied to higher thinking, magical thinking and religio spirituality.

fish contain pollutants from waters where us humans dumped waste in it and they became contaminated from it..i dont want to eat what people have destroyed...and i don't think you have all of your facts quite right sweetie. vegans do have fats in their diets but good fats..i eat veggie oils and such which have fats in it but its better for u in moderation then other fats...and im not one to eat a suffering animal as well:)

Firstly... if you didn't eat any fat at all, you'd die, full stop, so yes... it is unhealthy to not eat fat... but fat isn't only in Animals,
I've been craving meat since I started being a Vegetarian... heh

I have been a vegetarian since last May, almost a year, and I have been enjoying it. I like not eating animals, and I like the different kinds of food I've been exposed to since going vegetarian but I have a problem.
    RIDICULOUS MEAT CRAVINGS

These past like I'd say 4 weeks I have had the most ridiculous meat cravings. Bacon cheeseburgers, steak, fried chicken, like unbleivably out of control cravings for meat. I hadn't had this at all up to this point in my being a vegetarian, but now it has been really bad.

Why is this happening? What can I do to stop it?

I'm starting to think maybe I'm going to go back to eating meat, helP!?

After about a year of being a vegetarian I suddenly had a really strong craving for meat. It lasted for a few weeks. I just focused on what I could eat and not what I couldn't and it helped. Dwelling on meat is either going to make you really frustrated or you are going to wind up eating some.

As to why this happens I don't know. I think in my case it might have been more out of habit, as it was during the summer and summer brings thoughts of barbeques. You might want to make sure you are getting enough of what you need. Check your diet to see if there are any weak spots that might be depriving you of any certain nutrients.

Try out a lot of new and interesting recipes. Try new foods that bring new flavors that you are not use to. Experiencing new flavorful food may well help take your mind off meat.

Edit: By the way, do you eat some fruit each day? You didn't mention fruit. There was a period of time that I found myself going without fruit and while it didn't make me crave meat it did seem to make me feel a bit off. If you are not, be sure you are eating fruit.

I remember going through the same thing around a year of being pesco. I think it is just a matter of dwelling in it or not. The thing that triggered me was going back on the road shortly, and realizing that meals weren't quite so easy as driving through Wendy's for a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger! Pretty much as soon as I rediscovered the wonder of fresh veggie sandwiches the cravings ended - and we ate a whole lot better, healthier, and ultimately I think cheaper than when we'd eaten crappy meat products! :)

These past two days as soon as I got hungry my first thought has been meat. It's all of a sudden I have no idea where this came from. I'm starting to question whether or not I want to be vegetarian still
