I want to sign up for this dance class, which meets every Friday for nine weeks for one hour. I scheduled my work around that (and another class I am taking), but the first class falls on the day that I'm going to the Anti-War protest in D.C. I don't want to miss the VERY FIRST class, but I think this protest is much more important...so I'm wondering if I should NOT sign up...

I want to take the class, but not sure if missing the first class would mess me all up for the rest of the eight weeks. What do you think?

    First classes are always introductory.

E-mail the teacher and tell him of your reasons to miss it, he/she'll fill you up on what you missed, if any, without hard feelings.

Saying that to a left winger is like telling a child that santa does not exist.

your first class isn't going to matter.

they usually just go over the course and syllabis that first day - unless you got one of those classes were you just go once a week type deals, but then again people change and move classes around for the first 2 weeks.

    Ahahah brilliant

I'd listen to SirRubin's advice if I were you DA.

And phen0m, this is a dance class, not like a regular college course.

Yeah, that's why it's a little different...in fact there is no listing for the instructors email or phone number or anything...

I'm definitely going to the protest...it's just a matter of paying the 90 dollars for nine weeks of dance class...and missing the first one...I don't know what I would miss...

It might not be my fault, but it will be my fault that it continues if I don't at least VOICE my opinion and let everyone know that I disagree...sitting back and not doing anything doesn't solve it. And I knew someone who has died in this "war"...and I knew a lot of people that got shipped over...it's not right...and I have to do my part.

Listen yeah.. no matter what you do war will always exist. That is hard fact. People will always get shipped to places like Iraq to kill towel heads. The Taliban have affected my EBAY sales because I have to pay more for VAT if I import from the US. I want every one of them dead. Not to mention the destruction of the World Trade Centre... I really liked those two buildings :(

I support the war.. but I don't support someone nice like you wasting your time fighting something that you can't win. Your a nice girl and should enjoy dancing instead of wasting your time looking at war. IF you don't enjoy your dance class instead then I won't talk to you again :(

I think the peacekeeper is the only person I can relate to on HF.. wow, I just realised that.

So I should just sit back and let it happen?

I can't do that...it's kind of like how I feel about voting...if you don't vote than don't bitch...it's the same thing. If you don't go and VOICE your opinion and try to DO something about it...then I can't bitch at how unjust the war is...

But I still want to take the dance class...

Thats the thing though.. you can shout and scream all you like. What you don't like will happen regardless. Why not use that time to dance? Protest is bad karma right?

Well I told you I'm going to the protest no matter what, but I'm just trying to decide whether or not I should still take the dance class even if I miss the first one....

And you know you will still talk to me :p

Thats what I'm saying too. The president and everyone else probably just sits in there and laughs at all the protesters knowing that they are wasting their time.
