So I know the plant needs 16 hrs of light and 8 hrs of darkness when it is a seed, then once it sprouts it needs more like 12/12. I was going to grow in my closet but the flourescent light is kinda high in there and isn't crazy bright (it is bright enough I think). So my question: can I have the plant sit on my window sill during the day (there is prolly 10-11 hours of light) and then put it in my closet at night (for the extra hours that it needs)? Will it get enough light this way?

Note: This is just a test subject, I am not really looking to cultivate it unless it grows big, I am just trying to grow one to see how it all works for later when I can make an actual small greenhouse. Oh and I also have everything I need, potting soil, fertilizer, a pot, and I could probablly hook up another flourescent light closer to the plant if I really needed to.

no no no. the seed needs 18-24 hours of light up until you deem it is ready for flowering. then once the plant is ready to begin flowering, you put it on a 12/12. and im assuming you know how to germinate and stuff like that. as for the flourescent light, it should usually start off at about 14 inches away from the growing area. then you move it up as the plant grows taller. i dont know if the sun/light thing will work. it may be too much of a change, too much movement for a small plant to go through every day. but im not sure. once it starts getting leaves and stuff take pictures. also be sure to make a log book of what you do every day to the plant. this way you can see where you went wrong or what you did right. good luck mate!

Flo lights should be 2" above the plant tops and moved as often as neccassary.
