has any one tryed this ? the way my dreads grew i have some long ones on the back at the bottom and then the ones from the top of my head just make it to my neck because i grew my hair from really short and never got it cut since it was short,so it dosn't really have any style; so im wondering if i can go get a hair cut kinda to give them a new style and kinda even the lengths up? or will they just fall apart when they get cut there 2 years old now. where would i go to get this done ?

Ehm you can cut them yourself , wouldn't go to a barber.. expensive and they often don't know what to do with dreadlocks. You'll probably get a bit of unraveling, but if they're allready 2 years old it probably won't be very bad. Try one first, if it works, cut the rest too.

and after you get them cut, dont be scared to roll those tips, i cut a couple of mine apart, and i had to roll them into pratically new dreads. it'll feel really different.

let em wear off when they reach the ground...
i keep runnin onver mine and the ends aere wearrin a bit from draggin on the ground, but dont think i'd ever let scissors touch mine, but thats just me..
dreads arent all suposed to be all 1 length and neat ansd styled..
i have dreads 5 feet long others 3 inches..each ones unique and id never cut any of em..

i know my friends with super thick hair that have long ass dreads have neck problems because of their hair, i think at that point i might be tempted to trim em up but that's about it. That's a lot of weight to be carrying around :) I never cut my dreads, but at some of the really weak spots where they were gonna break i just ripped em off, my lil' boy freaks out when i do this though and proceeds to scold me for making my dreads shorter hehe

I'm with Soaring Eagle - I'd never let scissors touch me locks. I grew mine out from shorties, and they're all different lengths like you said. But they're also all different sizes - some like a 50-cent piece around, others like a pencil. Some of my tips are blunt, some are loose, and some are barely loose little curly-queues. I plan to let my hair keep growing as long as I can/it will. If the weight gets to be too much for my neck, I'll start wrapping it up because I've found that the weight (when it's heavy from being wet, for instance) is easier to handle when it's balanced on top of my head insetead of pulling down on the back of my neck. :)
