so, apparently i have this conditon. i haven't had a period in 8 months.. and that was after going off the pill. the doctor did a physical exam of everything as well as a lot of blood work to test all possible reasons why this lack of period is.. and it came out that i'm normal and healthy in every which way, physically and mentally, so there is just no reason for this to happen but it does anyway. the doctor was saying that i should just feel lucky to not have to deal with a period.. but man.. after 8 months, i really, really really wish i had one. i'm starting to not even feel like a woman anymore. blegh. anyone know what i'm talking about?

Yes, I know what you're talking about. I've gone 8 months without getting my period. I've even gone 11 months once. Also...6 months, 3 months...it's never consistent. I know most women are probably thinking "You lucky bitch..." but ya know what's just really annoying about the whole thing? You just NEVER know when to expect your period! I hate that so much. It's like...if I go somewhere (swimming, to visit my boyfriend, etc.) I'm under stress because for all I know, I could get my period THEN...and that would suck...there's no planning ahead. I just wish I knew when I was getting it...

So yeah, I know what it's like. I wouldn't say it makes me feel any less of a woman. The situation is just damn annoying, that's all.

The doctor could give you some medroxyprogesterone to jump start a period if you want to have one. Would going on birth control pills regulate it? Then you could choose to have a monthly cycle, or a quarterly cycle.

I had this problem for years and no doctor could figure it out. I did some research and discovered the link between the steroids and antibiotics in meat products and women's health. I stopped eating meat and within 3 months I was getting my cycle regularly. Three years later and I'm still regular and on time for my period every month. I do eat some meat, but only if it's organic and free of steroids and antibiotics. It worked for me, maybe it will work for you. Good luck!

I had a doctor give me something to jump start my period once, and it helped...but only for that one time. After that, it went back to "normal." Birth control...yeah, I guess it would help...but I've heard negative things about BC...weight gain and the like, and I don't want to deal with that.

I personally think that cutting meat out of my diet would seriously fuck up my body even more. I don't think I get enough/the right nutrients as it is. If I cut out a huge source of protein such as meat...I don't think it would have positive effects on my particular body. But thanks for the suggestion...:)
