    woodland burial

    http://www.igreens.org.uk/woodland_burial.htm

basically you can be buried and they plant a oak tree above you and you become the basis of a oak wood , other ideas are planting a wild flower meadow on top of you .

Have you thought about what their going to do with your body , Im down for organ transplants and Ive had a plot in the local cemetary since I was a kid .

Really Id prefer being under a oak tree or a apple tree, your supposed to plant a old dog under a tree for the minerals so a human is bound to be better as we are bigger

Do you have any ideas or plans

I've got it all written down just in case!

I want to be buried at one of those green graveyards, in pref. just a biodegradable length of fabric or cardboard coffin if it has to be in a box and I want a cherry tree planted over me.
I don't want any sort of religious service (read christian) and I want my burial song to be either Carbon Monoxide (to carry on my ecomessage after death!) or End of the Movie, both by Cake.

By hubby wants Dead & Bloated by Stone Temple Pilots for his burial song LOL!

I've always said burn me - preferably after death. How environmentally (un)sound is that? Are humans a fossil fuel?

I haven't even thought that far ahead...
However, I think I would like to be cremated in order to let my soul float off. Maybe in a similar way to Shinto funeral ceremonies.

Well come to think of it cremations would probably release aerosol particulates, something responsible for global dimming which counteracts the effects of global warming. Some have even suggested deliberately releasing particulate sulphates to avoid catastrophic climate change. So perhaps we should encourage cremations?

I have no idea why youre so quick to laugh. Surely you want to leave your body in a way which is symbolic of who your soul was? Your body will be the last thing you leave to the Earth...

Thats why im a donor. I can understand the tree thing too, obviously...planting a tree is a marvellous thing. But laughing at someone concerned aout what effects their actions will leave behind seems a little thoughtless, and as it happens they were right

My counsin had a woodland burial. Sounds a good way to go. Also organ donors are very important. I must sort myself out a donor card....

I would love to donate. However, I really don't like the idea of being butchered either.
I don't think my organs would be very suitable, I abuse myself too much. They can take my blood, but I think I'm keeping the rest.

Sorry the first sentence on the site "cremation wastes energy and releases greenhouse gases" was too much for me, couldn't read any further really.
Left my kids to the planet, if they want to play with my carcass thats up to them, can't see it being a concern of mine.
    Sorry johnny. :)

hahahahaha maybe we should ban the cows too, because of the quantity of methane gas they produce... i think maybe we should worry more about cars though :D

That seems a little thoughtless to me. I care about the little things too, and the way your single body is used after youre gone will be a litle thing that can make a big difference. A tree being planted. A child getting a new heart and having its life saved etc...you get the picture

As for you leaving your kids to the Earth...if theyre your only gift it doesnt say much. Sure children are miracles. They also consume. Lots. If you want to care you need to take care of the details, and theres no way i believe someone should be laughed at for caring what happens to their body (which could help to save lives) and worrying about negative effects on the envirnoment theyre leaving. Its a noble thought. A thought which keeps in mind children like YOURS

As it happens i do worry about the quantity of cows, which is unnatural, which is chopping down our rainforests(to provide space for them) This would be why i am vegan.

Fair dos if you dont want to argue though, just thought i should let you know. Sometimes things people laugh at truly are of concern, and if their lives werent so cosy theyd realise that. I mean if say they lived in the rainforest;)
