Hey all, I was wondering if any of you crafty souls might have any ideas for cool things to do with puzzles after they've been put together? I love doing puzzles, and have done the whole glue it together and put it on the wall thing (that gets old, and there's only so much wall space I'm willing to dedicate to puzzles), and was trying to thing of something else to do with them, cause it just seems a shame to just take it apart again. Thanks for the help! Melissa
I guess you could glue it together and use it as a placemat or something, although you'd probably have to paint it with clear nailpolish or varnish, etc. When I do puzzles, I usually end up taking them apart...but it's cool, because I'll pull them out six months later, and it's like I have a whole new puzzle to do!
The placemat idea is good way to go,but it works better if you laminate them with plastic though. This way you are able to keep them clean.I have also seen them used for table tops on end tables and coffee tables.Doing this by either coating them with polyurethane or placing them under glass.I have also seen the litttle mini puzzles used for mobiles with puzzles of the same subject matter.I have even seen them used as decoupage on storeage boxes and hope chests. The uses are really endless with a little thought, pretty much any where you would use an image, you could apply a completed puzzle in it's place.I use the round style puzzles for table tops on macrame hanging tables, those are pretty cool. There's a few different ideas for you Melissa, hope it helps you out.Just have fun with it and don't restrict yourself. What ever you come up with, bring your ideas over to my "Are you creative?" personal forum at; http://www.hipforums.com/forums/forumsdisplay.php?f=170
Thanks for the ideas guys, I'll definitely try some of these. fylthevoyd, funny you mentioned using puzzles as tabletops under glass, I had thought of doing that as well, cool and easy way to display a puzzle. The decoupage/hope chest idea sounds really interesting too. I'll have to look into the specifics of how to do that, but it sounds awesome, and like it would make a cool gift as well. Thanks you guys!
