I have never touched one to be honest, never even seen one, always have been limited to guitars, guitars, and more guitars. Are they difficult to play?

Nice banjo!

They're tuned totally differently from a guitar. I did find it pretty easy to switch down from six strings to just four strings when I got my ukulele but you do need to relearn all the chords. Is that a five string banjo? Having a string which stops halfway up the neck would freak me out I think!
