"Just because soldiers are on the same side now doesn't mean they will always be. Politics determine who you face on the battlefield. A soldier is a political tool, nothing more."

I do whatever I have to do to get the job done. I don't think about politics.

"There's a saying in the orient: 'Loyalty to the end."

    Being ...patriotic?

    "Devoting yourself to your country."

I follow the President and the top brass. I'm ready to die for them if necessary.

"People aren't the ones who dictate the missions."

    Then who does??

"The times. People's values change over time, and so do the leaders of a country. The enemies we fight are only enemies in relative terms, constantly changing with the times. Yesterday's good might be tomorrow's evil. As long as we have 'loyalty to the end' there's no point believing in anything... Even in those we love.

The only thing we can believe with absolute certainty... is the mission.

Coming here made me realize something...
Half of what I'd been told was a complete and utter lie...
The other half was a conviently constructed lie."

-Taken from a popular gaming series, MGS. Throughout the series the directors and developers have often told interesting concepts about politics, war, and killing through the characters in the story. This was a conversation between Snake and The Boss. The Boss being the one with the quotations. I found it a thought provoking piece so I decided to share it with you guys. I'm not new here... but apparently my old name is gone (it's been a while.) I'll post this in Politics too once I'm allowed. I'm not sure how often I'll be popping up on the forums per day, so if you want you can contact me with a screen name, etc. If not just post here and I'll get to it eventually.

I for one agree on most of what Big Boss says... the situation we're in now is much like that.

As for overthrowing the government, I am fully aware of what the Constitution says and what rights we have been given, but I do not see right now a cold hard reason to raise arms and fight. Perhaps it will change over these next few years.

I believe in the original American dream. We've lost sight of it along the way, and once the line has been crossed I'm willing to stand up for what this country was founded for. Til then I will peacefully protest and actively help the cause.
