I use only wood from my property that I have had to cut or that has fallen. The wood that this is made from is an oak that fell on my house a few days after closing on it. It is "spalted" which means that it has the first signs of rot in the form of the blackness. At first I was ill when the tree fell, but since then I have found it to be a blessing that keeps giving. I had to ask myself "how can I honor the spirit of this tree?" and the answer has been to sculpt with it instead of burning it. If you check my old posts you'll see I had never done any woodwork until that tree fell. This time last year was when I started, since then I've made a good bit, but haven't posted anything. I'm not lazy but I am......if that makes sense.
That is stunning! Very creative, you can tell there's lots of work and love in it You're very talented!
Thanky you very much for all the nice comments! It is hard, but it's worth every minute. What better way to honor a fallen tree's life than to make nice things out of it?
