are there any shrooms that grow on manure that are NOT phycedelic/poisonous? I dont want to come across some shrooms growing on manure and assume that they are edible...more than one reply would be good...i don't want to go on one person's answer....just in case that person is wrong and tells me its okay to eat them when i shouldnt...thanks
The real question is...why would you eat mushrooms that are growing on manure? Are you planting these mushrooms, cause if you just walk up to a manure pile and eat mushrooms it is kinda wierd...
Shrooms grow on cow shit, thats why they smell like shit and taste like shit. But the end result is well worth the nastiness
Shrooms can grow on lots of things. They don't really grow in manure. They can grow under it, the manure creates a micro-climate, the mushroom pushes up through it. There are other mushrooms that can be found in/on manure, never eat a wild mushroom without properly identifying it first, it could mean the difference between life and death, seriously.
Psilocybe mushrooms oxodise blue. Squeeze the stem- it should start to turn a black/blue colour, there should be traces of blue around the head. If you don't know what you're doing, pick them with someone who does, once you've picked them before they're pretty easy to identify. NEVER eat anything you're not sure about, it could kill you. Death caps looks very fucking similar to liberty caps, will make you sick, then a few hours later you'll fell alright again, then 24 hours later your liver fails and you die- seriously.
