I've visited Asheville once, and I am fond of the small hippie-like community. Now, how is it living there? It is hard? I'd like to live near the downtown area, and when I move there I'll be a licensed massage therapist from state of Kentucky--600 hours. So, any information? Hard finding jobs there? How about jobs with dreads--planning on getting them soon. Oh, and what about the school of natural healing? I'm thinking about doing herbalism there. Anyone attend the Jubilee church community? http://www.jubileecommunity.org/index.htm I accidentally walked into it downtown when I was there, lol It was interesting. It's odd seeing how progressive that town is heading. I've never been in a church that even conversed about the environment. I'm seriously interested in moving there. Any information would be highly appreciated. Loves, Wildflowerlove
Wildflower, Living here is great... everybody loves it and it shows in people's attitudes. One of the slogans here is "Altitude effects attitude" and it's true.. I moved here last summer from south Georgia... I finally get to see all 4 seasons which are perfect, especially along the Blue Ridge Parkway... A lot of people talk about how the job market isn't all that great b/c of all the people who want to move here... I got a job before I moved here which is what I suggest... there is a large homeless population for the size (nothing I would be afraid of, the homeless are nice too..haha..at least what I've seen)... my roomate found a job after about a month living here... now, i guess it would depend on where you were working with the dread thing, but believe me, and you probably noticed when u were here, there are many, many people who have dreads here.. they must get along somehow, but like I said, I'm sure it depends where u are... I'm not familiar with the school of healing or the church you talk about... Asheville is very progressive... also very diverse.. we have conservatives and we have people protesting Bush in Pack Square almost weekly... we have traditional, mainstream families and he have more "earthy", alternative groups... we have country folk and "yankees"... traffic can be bad for the size but not a big deal... many unique shops and all-natural, organic grocery stores (many, many!) and lots of vegetarian restuarants... big pet-lover city too! i could go on forever... what I like best is that I can go hiking every weekend and never re-visit the same place... also great weed here, and sometimes you can smell it on South Lexington while bar hopping and it brings a smile to my face every time... any other things I can help you with, I'll try...
