ok so i was talking to a friend on msn last night and i mentioned i was drinking soy chocolate milk to which she said eww :/ she said soy products sound 'yucky' to her, to which i said 'you find something made from beans disgusting but not something squeezed from a cows insides?' then she said yes and called me weird lol strange ppl
Some people are weird about health food.. I don't think meat eater people really think about eating meat and animal products.. but if you think about it too hard its really strange and disgusting...
I always wondered who first looked at a cow's utter and thought,"Damn that looks good." But yeah, I don't really get it either. I think it is just people don't really think about where food comes from.
Hmm i used to think soy stuff would be bad cuz of the word soy too... i've met a couple people who react to it the same way because of what it is called....I donno that "bean milk" sounds much more appetizing though... Soymilk is delicious though. I used to go through a couple silks a week when I drank it. Rice milk is delicious too...
That's the power of conditioning ... people get used to anything if those around them act like it's normal, and get disgusted by things they're not familiar with. A lot of the time it's just about getting people to wake up and actually think about the standards they have internalised...
i usually drin soy milk, but want to cut down on my soy... so, tonight i got rice milk, and i love it. its so much better than soy milk!!! (IMO)
I think it was probably the same fool that first saw a raw oyster and said "I really should eat that."
I think the OP meant that the automatic ewww without tasting was confusing, but in the "ewww-er's" defense: Rocky Mountain oysters kidney pie liver I think there's plenty that sets off "ewws." (for the record, rice drink or almond.)
basically i just thought it was strange that they find milk from a cows stomach less disgusting then milk made from beans
probably the same people who say organic veggies or milk or whatever "just dont taste as good and they really dont have anymore vitamins."
I get that a lot too. They hear tofu or soy and automatically think "tasteless and disgusting" even without trying. It's so irritating. Some people get themselves so convinced that they won't like something that they think it's nasty even when they try it. My mom's that way. She hates sour cream. i made a recipe once with sour cream and she ate it and thought it was great. The next time I made it, she found out there was sour cream in it and refused to eat a bite, insisting that she'd hate it. When I informed her that she'd eaten it before and liked it, she said that she hadn't really liked it that time because it tasted "off" because of the sour cream. My brother and sister-in-law won't even eat when I cook at my parents' house because there's no meat and there's no way food can taste good without meat. I even knew a guy in TX who was so adverse to veggies that he'd ask for his double cheeseburger without lettuce and tomatoes. The closest he'd come to veggies was ketchup, onions, and french fries. Needless to say, he was very overweight and unhealthy. Some people are just all-around closed-minded, even when it comes to food.
Mmm..I am a huge fan of Almond Breeze Chocolate...and that's not a BEAN! it's a nut!!!!in my opinion it tastes much better than traditional chocolate milk! and it is much healthier! can't go wrong there! i agree most non-veg just don't think of things the same way we would.. i know..i ate meat for 23 years of my life! And i wouldn't say most people are closed minded..maybe they have just never been exposed to these types of things...if your told your whole life that is the way it is..ur naturally gonna thing the other way is bad or wrong... i mean iwas never exposed until i was old enough to change my own life...
