hey all yesterday i noticed a red bump on my underarm. i thought it was just a pimple due to all the sweating i have been doing due to the pregnancy. well now the bump is red and a bit bigger and when i touch it it hurts thats the only time. has anyone experienced this before?????? i cant really tell if its a spider bite or not. should i go to the doctors?????
Go to the doctor even if you only suspect it's a bite, if it is I couldn't imagine that toxin being good fro your little one, and an infection or other complication is nothing you want while carrying that baby. just my humble opinion. good luck, hope it's just a pimple.
I really can't stand when people are like "a spider bit me" ... yeah did you SEE it bite you? I've had bumps on my underarms. Do you shave? Sometimes you get them from shaving, sometimes it's a reaction to your deorderant (mine was). It's pretty much guarentee'd it's not a spider bite, though. Maybe some sort of bite, perhaps fleas or bedbugs. Most likely related to shaving/sweating/deodorant though. See a doctor if you're concerned though.
I'd only really be concerned if it was doing something other than being a bump. Ie hurting, itching, stinging, swelling, increasing in size, changing colour, etc. Even if it is a bug bite, unless it's doing any of the above chances are it's fairly minor and will simply heal on it's own *shrugs*
it might be a good idea to have someone check to make sure there isnt a tick burrowed in there. i know its january, but i'm still seeing ticks here in pennsylvania and definately do the tea tree, and keep an eye on it. you catch some nasty infections from those little guys.
yeah what freaks me out is when i was lving with my dad 3 years ago he had the same looking bump on the same armpit and he had to go to the er and get it lanced then the next day two more bumps showed up and within the week he had atleast 5 or 6 bites from a brown recluse spider under one armpit. i doubt that this is a tick bite for the fact that i dont live in a heavily wooded area and i havent really been outside for a bit. i will try the tea tree oil stuff and see if it helps. thanks
This post just made me really glad i live in the uk! I hate spiders & bugs erghhh! hehe Hope you get it sorted hun x
Brown Recluse spider bites have a necro-toxin that kills the tissue and causes it to fall off in chunks (late-event), this happened to your Dad? Bite Symptoms The physical reaction to a brown recluse spider bite depends on the amount of venom injected and an individual's sensitivity to it. Some people are unaffected by a bite, whereas others experience immediate or delayed effects as the venom kills the tissues (necrosis) at the site of the bite. Many brown recluse bites cause just a little red mark that heals without event. The vast majority of brown recluse bites heal without severe scarring --http://spiders.ucr.edu/avoidbites.html Initially, the bite may feel like a pinprick or go unnoticed. Some may not be aware of the bite for 2 to 8 hours. Others feel a stinging sensation followed by intense pain. Infrequently, some victims experience general systemic reactions that may include restlessness, generalized itching, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or shock. A small white blister usually initially rises at the bite site surrounded by a swollen area. The affected area enlarges and becomes red, and the tissue is hard to the touch for some time. The lesion from a brown recluse spider bite is a dry, blue-gray or blue-white, irregular sinking patch with ragged edges and surrounding redness--termed the "red, white, and blue sign." The lesion usually is 1? inches by 2? inches or smaller. Characteristics of a bite are further discussed a The signs and symptoms don't seem to fit. What you are describing to me is more like a clogged &/or inflamed sweat gland, a infected oil gland or a cyst/boil. Unless. you had these described symptoms, treat it with the tea-tree oil, but the kind that has a diluted strength w/ water. This posting is probably way too late anyway, let us know~ :leaving:
hey thank you so much for that well informed post i appreciate it so much and well the bump went away and isnt a problem anymore. but yes my father was bitten several different times by a brown recluse. ( i know this because where we were staying was infested with brown recluse orand other types of spiders as well as rats and cockroaches and ants) so my father did have those sympotms that you described and to be honest i didnt stay around too long to see what happened after that i was too sick of his psychosis and skitzophrenia.
