I take 12 Hydrocodones 10/325 a day. I have been given 2 Morphine 30G a day. You might think I am crazy but I like the feeling of the hydro much more then the Morphine. Although the Morphine woks better on my pain , which is the reason I am on it. Anyway, my question is... Can you chew the Morphine tablet? It says on the bottle that you shouldn't & that it may cause death. Is this true or just a scare tactic? And if you can chew them, is it worth it? Does it make you feel any better then just swallowing it? Also, how many can you take at a time? 2? 4? 10? etc... Thanks everyone. I appreciate any input on this. .
Can't see how chewing it could give you a greater chance of overdose than eating it. Can tell you one thing though. It'll taste like shit. Just eat it.
the morphine is likely time-released. chewing it, or better yet, crushing and dissolving in water might remove that, and may just prove to give you a better picture of morphine vs. hydrocodone. morphine is six times as powerful IV, slightly less intranasally, as it is orally. 60mgs per day of IV or snorted morphine would be roughly equivalent to 120mgs daily of hydrocodone, and might prove better.
Thanks for the input guys! So you think that snorting it is better then swallowing it? It IS a time-release pill. Suppose to last 12 hrs. I have been swallowing 2 at once and still feel it is nowhere near the feeling that the hydro gives. But like I said before it does seem to work much better on the pain, and in the end that is more important. But I can't help liken that feeling it gives Any more input would be greatly appreciated! P.S. what does intranasally mean? and is that better or worse then taking orally? Thanks again. .
intranasally means to snort it... yeah, i would try and chew up two of the pills... i think u'll find that the morphine is more intense, although i do like hydro alot
Morphine is hella stronger than Hydro. People in chronic pain are given time release medications so that they don't have to dose as often, and also, because it reduces side effects. Please be careful, if you have never taken that much morphine at one time, all at once. If you already have hydro in your body, you'll get a stronger reaction, and all opiates cause respiratory depression. (meaning, you actually breathe more slowly, and breathe less) If you are in chronic pain, you most likely need the MS Contin (the morphine) in the time release form for a reason. IMO, I'd leave it that way, because, even if you don't OD, taking a 12 hour dose all at once will only last an hour or two, then you have the next 11 hours or so without any pain releif. Being a pain patient myself, I wouldn't mess around with the way the meds are supposed to be taken. JMO.
This is THE BEST advice you will get on this and she is right. Many times if you chew them it might not seem like your high till later and then you can't back track either. It's how most die on this Drug too. I take my meds for pain too and have to break them down into the day boxes or you can forget what you took very easy. This is NOT the type of stuff you can make a mistake on.
Well, I was insuflating 240mg's daily, a few times I would hit that mark in one shot and surpass it in the evening. Never Od'd but came VERY close once and it was not pretty. Now I go about 5 days between each use, and I can hit the 180mg mark, snort half and swallow the other half, without and physical problems, but then again I have been taking opiates for years, and while you can never truly know your limit, as long as your not interacting other drugs with it, you can be pretty damn confident that you will be ok once you know HOW the drug works. MS Contin is not going to work on you in the way that hydro and oxy do, asi ti s time release, you could chew them but STILL you will not get the same high, Morphine is morphine, plain and simple, while Hydro and Oxy are created from Thebaine, which is shown to have a much more speedy, uplifting euphoric effect than the rest of the opiates, although it does not last quite as long, time release or no time release. And my 5 day waiting period is over, as of tomorrow See ya on the bright side
