He is a beautiful child. How did Miranda's labor go? How is she feeling? Is nursing going well? (I assume she is nursing.) Get ready for that 1 week growth spurt. Lots of nursing, almost no breaks between feedings, fussiness, stretching, and not much sleep. His little body and brain are going through enormous growth and need the extra food and touch during a spurt. If she is nursing, she WILL make enough. Don't let the fussiness and feeding every few minutes throw off her confidence. If he is pooping at least three times a day and peeing at least 5 diapers, he is getting enough milk.

There will be more spurts. Most at 3 weeks, 6 weeks 3 months and 6 months, but they can happen at any time.

Growth spurts can put parents in a panic as they think something is wrong. But if feeding and holding makes him calm down, he is fine. My babies would nurse sometimes more than 24 times in a 24 hour period during a growth spurt. This all NORMAL. No need to panic or go to extreme measures,(like supplemeting with formula) as long as he is growing and peeing and pooping well. Babies have been going through growth spurts since long before there were supplements, and they do better without them, assuming they are feeding on demand and growth is good.

PM me if you need to Shane.

Congrats on your beautiful baby. Love him well. He will let you know what he needs. (Usually this is holding, rocking and feeding at this age.)
