i'm lookin to go to a gay sauna (in manchester, if you're interested) and am wonderin what sort of stuff anyone else might have got up to in there before. do you just watch at first, or do you jump straight in, or start a conversation and let it lead from there? any past experiences would be interesting, thanks fellas
Don't expect a whole lot of conversation! People don't watch much...the real action is in closed rooms or dark rooms. Guys seem to just go for it.
i found out there is one quite near me, i'm interested in it but just wondered what it actually is/ is it legal/ how old do you have to be - uk what really goes on there how much does it cost/
ok a gay sauna is a place where men go and often have sex with each other, don't quote me but i think its legal providing money doesn't change hands during the sex act. i.e theres no prostituation, as for your other questions you need to ring them up and ask them, look in the phone book. their minium age may be 18, but like I said ask them. and because this seems new to you i'm also going to give you this advice even though you haven't asked, if you go to a sauna and practice anal intercourse without a condom your putting yourself at risk of stds including hiv, the other thing is if you haven't done this yet, go to your doctor (or your local gay health clinic look in the yellow pages) and ask for hepatitus jabs, its much easier to catch than hiv and can be spread through external contact with infected bodily fuilds S
I went to one near me with my friend just to check it out. We weren't there to hook up with other guys, more to satisfy our curiosity. Most of the guys were older and some were pretty gross, but they say the college age guys come in on Friday and Saturday nights, so we missed out on that. We walked around in towels and guys kept following us around. But the place was spotless clean and we had this little dinky private room with a bed in it which was also very clean. There was a huge hot tub, a movie room with porn playing, glory holes everywhere, a dark maze you could walk through, showers, weightlifting, and a bunch of hallways with private rooms. After checking everything out, we went back to our tiny little room and messed around with each other, then I got adventurous and opened up the door and there were instantly like 10 guys watching us. It was interesting but I don't think I'll be going back.
I forgot to mention it was pretty expensive. I don't know about the UK, but the one we went to had a membership fee, an entry fee, and a fee to rent a room which was mandatory.
Sauna's, bathhouses are there to provide a service. Do not base your preception of them on this one experience. Many have theme nights or parties and all sorts of fun can be had. At the baths you will encounter a true cross section of gay and bi men.
Dude, It is good asking questions here. It is possibly even better googling yourself thru the ever growing resources of the web. Most likely the best thing to do, is to reach legal age, save up some needed cash and hit the best place in town. Trust me, there is nothing like knowing the things 'first-hand'. What's gross and sleazy to some might be precisely what floats your boat. You'll never know, till you go and see for yourself. BTW, gay saunas (aka gay spas/baths) in the US have their own etiquette. This one is half-way funny and half-way educational... Enjoy. Stay safe. Respect the law. KD http://seadogs.ca/spaetiquettes.html more serious stuff: http://seadogs.ca/firsttimers.html
