This will either jog peoples memories or it will mean nothing at all because I don't think it's ever re-surfaced as a repeat or on Video-Tape or DVD Video since.

It was a British Thames Television kids series which began transmission in July 1970.It lasted 3 series & the central character was a mystical action-man called: 'Tarot' played by Michael Mackenzie.

I remember watching it in 1972 & it's stayed in my memory ever since because it was outstanding for a kid's t.v. show.

Does anyone remember this t.v. show?.

Does not ring a bell. Might not have aired in the USA.
The lady in the photo looks like Gloria Steinam.
    Sounds like a good show.

Thanks P-P![IMG] The photo is actually Michael Mackenzie as 'Tarot' & Judy Loe as 'Lulli'.

Hmmm,I see I am gonna have a difficulty with this one as no one knows anything about this vintage t.v. show.
I was hoping someone might remember this old chestnut.I doubt if anyone in America,Canada or Europe will know it.Only Brits of a certain age group & possibly Australians,South Africans & New Zealanders?...

Hi FFA. In case you haven't seen this it's quite interesting: http://www.aceofwands.net/.

I remember it well - I saw the 2nd and 3rd series (1971 and 1972). The 1st and 2nd series (with Judy Loe) were wiped (outrageous nvandalism) but there are rumours that the 3rd (with Petra Markham) will be out on DVD at some stage.

I agree it was an outstanding kids' programme -- far quirkier than any other fantasy series. The writer, Trevor Preston, threw down a gauntlet that no-one else has picked up.

The stories that stick in my mind were the The Meddlers (an atmospheric story set in a strange marketplace dark), the Power of Atep (with overtones of Ancient Egyptian myth) and the highly ambigous finale to series 3, The Beautiful People. Cracking title sequence and theme tune by Andy Bown (then a recent refugee from the Herd and Judus Jump).

Thanks Taliesin.:) I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers the t.v. mystery man 'Tarot'.At least there's now two of us.
I admit though;I remember snippets more than acutal storylines. Was 'The Meddlers' the story where people are given free Electric Hair- Dryers & Electric Shavers etc. at & when they take them home & plug them in they are killed by them.I remember an episode where Tarot collapses on the floor in a dream-like coma but he manages to point his finger at the fallen thial of antedote which his accomplaces eventually find for him.
I can believe that the 1st & 2nd series were wiped;-usually to recycle the master video-tapes for other series.
I'm glad you agree that this series was unusually 'quirky' & not your run-of-the-mill t.v. thriller.
I seem to recall that the end-credits song was different to the opening credits song & more catchy & rhythmic?.
