All you of you know who timothy leary is. One of the lsd pioneers. But what i want to know is how he was able 2 study lsd. Like professonially. I know he got kicked out but what exactly was he doing like what did his work classify under. I dont think he had a degree in studying LSD and mushies. Cause if you could study LSD that would be heaven for me. thanks for anyone who replies
Well, in his day, LSD was legal, as were shrooms. He had a PhD in Psychology. In the US, since LSD is a Schedule I drug, it can not be used for experiments. Legally.
damn that ruined my dreams of ever having psychedelics as my job guess il just become a musician or somethin
If you want to be able to study lsd dont try to make it mainstream all at once. But haha its not legal anymore. You would like to study its effect on people??? Or like the chemical side?
well pretty much something that allows me to drop lsd and shrooms and smoke weed lol. Studying the effects would be cool.
Oh, on that documentary "Getting High: A history of LSD" it tells you exactly how he did this. If you can find the doc. watch it! I know he got kicked out of harvard, he set up another research lab or whatever in some old house with another guy. The codumentary explains it alot better.
and i believe it was mostly his fault that lsd was illegalized. he was just so out there pushing it it sort of scared america. his psychedelic peers even told him to tone it down but he didnt. i have still yet to experience acid but i want to. i'm not really looking to it as a door to religion as leary was promoting but... idk... anyways back to the subject. i strongly recommend reading Acid Dreams by Martin Lee. it is one of the greatest books i've read on LSD. it is about the social impact of acid and it covers this topic very well among others. Acid Dreams was an excellent read for me. I heard a rumour that in Russia or somewhere in eastern europe legal LSD research will be starting up in the next few years, heard it from a friend who studies drugs like a demon and refains from talking bullshit- forgot to ask him where he heard or read it.
another thing from Acid Dreams, which i HIGHLY RECOMMEND: Leary first started with Mescaline and when he heard about LSD he wasn't intrested because he thought if you've tried one you've tried them all. but he found out he was wrong, he met some dude who obtained a lot of LSD and mixed it into mayonaisse jar. also there is a story that Richard Alpert spilt a thing of acid on his underwear when they were staying at Millbrook and so if anyone wanted to trip they had to go suck on his undies JOn
I know Leary's first psychedelic experience was with mushrooms in Mexico, after which he famously declared that he had, "learned more about human psychology in those few hours than in my entire academic career." (not an exact quote but very close)
