This is the grad dress I mentioned in the thread about the shirt I made. It's supposed to be like a less complicated, green version of the titanic "dinner" dress. It's two patterns combined, and the beading is all done by hand. (yeah, I'm short even in heels ) I wanted something modest because I'm bigger so I did cap sleeves and it turned out great with the beading. I hate it when designers just drape fabric over full bodied women and call it fashion, so I decided to make it really sparkly and awesome. Hahaha.
Well I had been thinking about how to do it before doing it. And I wanted to wait until the fabric went on sale on New Years because it was really expensive fabric, and the beading alone cost about 50 dollars+. So it took from January to the day before prom hahaha. So about five months. Actually, I do believe that I got my boyfriend sitting there the day before my prom beading away on the lines I drew for him with crayon, and I actually finished it the morning of prom. The fabric would have cost about 550 dollars but we bought 500 dollars worth on New Years so it was cut in half to 250 dollars. Then later, we needed to buy just a little more sheer black fabric to go over top. It was a lot of work for a one-wear use. Haha. Now it's just hanging in my closet - I don't think I'll ever have to go to such a formal event ever again.. at least not one where the women look like princesses. hahahaha. (It was VERY heavy!!!)
i loooooooove that dress!!! i had a "titanic style" dress for my 8th grade grad....it was sooooooo cute i wish i could still wear it haha.
