I decided to just drop every thing and leave. So I did and now I trying to sell my car to further fund my travels. I have a light backpacking schem already and I'm riding in my car to somewhere starting now. Im in Dundee Michigan right now at the local library searching for a place to go with similar folks. I already decided that traveling with a few more people would make a world of difference.

So I put this out to you guys. If you have room for me in your traveling group or commune or "whatever" party please reaspond and I'll set out. Anything non modern. I have a few destination that I prefer but will travel any where if the opertunity presents (Upper Pen. Mich. Vancover CAn. or the west coast).

MY email is franc112@msu.edu or reply to this.
    serious offers please;)

Well, that's it for now. I'll check online in the next day or so. I hope I read some good news.

the good folks at www.feelfreefarmproject.org are always accepting visitors! I thank them for the information and I feel I will make my way down in the coming days.

As for lastnight, I left Dundee and drove my way to Ann Arbor. It was a warm night with plenty of rain. Despite this, many people were out to fill the busy downtown streets and I had quite a time people watching. I walked for about 5hours, zig-zagging the streets hoping to find other through-backpackers.

I did see a few bums planted on dark stairways into vacant shops, but that's not my cup of tea. I talked to one and just came out with it, "How do you live like this"? I really meant just that, how in the hell can you do this everynight? What's your secret? But she replied, "Follow the lord." So I chirped, "How do you eat?" She robotically mutterd, "When ever Jesus allows." With those words I already knew. I wanted away from her.

I passed the book store and thourgh the window I saw what appeared to be another backpacker. He had on trail shoes, trail pants, a suitable jacket and a backpack stuffed. He was looking at some spanish language books. Could he be going to mexico from Ann Arbor? I wished I could go with him I thought to myself.

I was glad I had some weed though. It really made walking around like a zombie interesting. By time I found my car (parked 2 miles away from downtown) I was beat and damp to the bone. I drove to wall-mart in Ypsilanti to get some rest...I hate sleeping in cars. It got cold and uncomfortable but I got 4 hours sleep. Around 8am I woke and bought some food and the market for the days to come. Mostly dried foods and anything that I can make using my little 4oz stove.

Now I'm at the libarary in Downtown Ypsi, thinking about what to do. It's cold, dark and cloudy today and shit don't feel right. Maybe I'll just smoke a spliff and chill somewhere. Gas must be saved.
    later.

Thanks for the support guys. I'm now in Townshed Tenn. visiting the Great Smokie Mountian NP. I camped out last night after visiting Cades Cove. What a wonderful place. This morning I went for a 6 hour trail hike to Abrham falls. I hit a few puffs of a joint and got a little lost. Luckly for me there was an old man with a pipe at the base of the falls. "Did you know smoking was bad for you?" He said. I later thought, "Yeah, if you're backpacking it is!" Instead I just laughed with him and he then helped me get back on the right path again. I felt alone out in the backcountry and I hiked back to my car and left the park. (how can anyone bear it alone?...crazy) I have so much love for the mountians. I wish to come back soon and hit the trails in more detail. I'm thinking about making my way down to Georgia where the folks at the feelfreefarm live about. I have 2 full tanks left of gas before I have to either go back or find something that will keep me going. I wish I had some companions. Maybe I'll find them there or a door will open to some new adventure. lates.

Man! I wish I had a car. Come Febuary I'll be traveling on foot. but If your heading up north, I'm in maryland, and I think I'll head south, dodge the mountains and swing around. Maybe I'll go over the mountains, see if I can survive the worst then everything else'll be a peice o cake

Some days, the best of intentions won't get you anything but a hole in the ground.

I didn't mean you, HHB. You're about as unflappable as anyone here. Unless I start to tell you how great my 4x4 is on GA backroads...
